Nathaniel PHILLIPS: 2021/22 (on loan at Bournemouth)

There’s the reason I didn’t count Ben as that extra body.

So how do you explain Kabak coming straight into the team. It makes this whole scenario unfathamable, a complete fabrication. Nuts even!

He’s gone missing again anyway, easy mistake to make.

He missed the first two league games, only making it to the bench against City. The next 2 he was paired with Henderson, and then Phillips against Sheffield United because both Henderson and Fabinho were injured. The next game, Fabinho was back and partnered Kabak again. This was against Chelsea. He was then out against Fulham, where Phillips and Williams played, because of an injury, before making it back in against Wolves, where he partnered Phillips.

I presume this last game was the turning point where Jürgen decided that Phillips was ready, because they then played together until Phillips mysteriously disappeared from the team (probably injured) for Kabak’s last two matches before his injury.

So yes, despite Kabak coming into the team two matches into being here, he was usually paired with either Fabinho or Henderson until he and Phillips were ready to be that experienced head.

Looks as though Ben Davies is going on loan to Shrffield United. I hope that means Phillips stays for the season.

Speaking of, any news on who Southampton could replace Vestergaard with?

I think only one of Phillips or Williams will be with us this season and I’d prefer a Phillips sale of up to £15m than a Williams loan. I prefer Williams and think there’s still a chance of him developing into a decent, home-grown, squad option CB. I think he’ll learn plenty off the likes of VvD and Matip and still young enough playing time doesn’t matter too much yet, he’s actually had a fair amount at senior level for a CB of his age already. Whereas I feel with Phillips he’s definitely moving on its just a question of when and a needless delay and reduction on selling price if its not this summer.

Phillips is surely on their list. Not as good as Vestergaard on the ball but replaces the physicality/aerial ability they’ll lose, and he’s a touch quicker too.

Surprised we are loaning Davis; thought he’d be sold but perhaps we think we can get more for him after a year in the Championship. Always seemed a strange signing.

Still expect us to cash in on Nat.

Question is who will be 5th choice. Rhys or Billy.

If Billy cuts out the brain farts he would be a good option.

Nobody, Fabinho.

Have we not sold him yet. :grinning:

Happy enough with this news - I like him, deserves a contract. Just hope he gets better, albeit cant see him being a regular starter (unless we have another injury crisis).

Rhys Williams off on loan I hope then!

Congratulations to him! I didn’t think he was all that, but apparently the club thinks he’s a great asset.

Will be 29 years old when his contract ends.

:joy:

I reckon it’s about cover for this season, due to our past issues, and also to retain his value for selling on. I would be very suspired if he’s here at 29 years of age.
