Next Liverpool Head Coach

You guys and gals are convincing me to give Iraola a chance. I am confused

Is that really what happened?

I“ve heard that about not winning in two months too and didn“t really pay it much thought anyway but when you say it like that, pathetic hype journalism,

All the signs point to Iraola; the timing, the connection with Hughes and it seems he’d put right some of the things that were missing under Slot.
Let’s hope it’s him, and let’s get behind him if it is.

I have to wonder if Alonso was ever an option at all or another screw up?

Hi praise, get him in😊

I think Alonso is an option for us as fans but maybe not yet from the higher ups.

Good

Yeah, that’s where I’m going. I’d like to hope that Slot’s departure has been on the cards for some time and that discussions and succession planning have been taking place. For whatever reason that ruled out Alonso.

The alternative is that there’s been zero discussions or plans and everything has been a reaction. Not a great way to do things

Absolutely. In Le Tour, for instance, ā€˜rest days’ involve low intensity 2-3 hr rides; otherwise riders lose too much conditioning and it’s very common for young riders less steeled in the race to have poor performances the day after a rest day.

I doubt they would have announced Slot’s departure without a replacement lined up.

In many cases it’s actually worse than this: They are like jukeboxes; they’ll play whatever tune someone wants, as long as he’s paying.

The Graun has got particularly bad since losing their older football writers: the likes of Barney Ronay and Jonathan Liew are more interested in pop culture metaphors and silly allusions than anything football yet they are repeatedly chosen to write extensive pieces covering the ā€˜serious’ football stuff - it’s getting like reading a column in the spectator.

One hopes yes.

This doesn’t quite have the same feel to me as Rodgers departure.

I hadn’t expected any announcements on coaching staff until next week, so I expect they are planning on announcements then. If it is Iraola, he announced that he was leaving Bournemouth back in April, around the time we were knocked out by PSG.

Whoever it is I hope it’s more a case of trashing out the finer details rather than only beginning talks.

Yeah, but can they do it on a cold blowy evening in November along the docks up North???

I think Alonso was looking to be a manager and not only a head coach. Chelsea clearly happy to give him that role

If its him, I hope it works out. Can’t shake the feeling of Quique Setien at Barcelona vibes I’m getting about him…

Listened to James Pearce today and the briefing appears to be that we’re well stocked in central defense…

granted Iraola played a big part in Bournemouth recent success,

but credit must also go to the team behind player recruitment.

While facts show that Iraola went two months without a win, it is really ignorant in so many ways. To cast aspersions at him with these throw away lines of outright snide, it is to be remembered, Iraola has never had at his disposal within his squad, the quality of three players that when combined, cost over Ā£350m…
If he ever goes two months (four games) without a win when he is in the company of an elite set/squad of footballers… then we can maybe re-asses.
Slot was taking us nowhere fast. As fans, we could clearly see some of the reasons why… To learn from such mistakes, will hopefully bring us to the new guy with his differing methods. If that is Iraola, to me anyway, he deserves to be judged on what comes next for our scenario, not what went on in the non-hot-bed-footballing-mecca that is Bournemouth.
