Frimpong - high energy player built for aggressive pressing
Wirtz - best presser in Germany
Ekitike - 7th best pressing stats in Germany
Isak - 4th best pressing stats in England - played at Sociedad in the Basque!
Kerkez - absolute machine, played under Iraola
Leoni & Jacquet - young, energetic, quick high line CBs
And who did we try and fail to sign?.. Martin Zubimendi, from the Basque, just like Iraola.
Forget the nice words, this squad wasn’t built for Slot. It was built for the big dog, the main man, the long term target, the man Richard Hughes KNEW would be Liverpool manager years in advance…
I would say that Iraola might be able to compensate for this somewhat thanks to his experience as a team captain under Bielsa and with the Spanish national team. As a player, he certainly has a more impressive track record than Slot—and even Jürgen.
Me too @Livvy - have only ever worn black since my late teens. Sometimes toned with a bit of grey, and very rarely when unavoidable, with a splash of white… Not in any existential sort of way, but it does saves having to make decisions on what colours to wear every time I look in the wardrobe :0)
Yes, I just edited my post to include that. It was considered a strange move at the time to reject Bristol City who are themselves a pretty progressive and upwardly mobile club but then it all made sense when Slot got fired.
