Next Liverpool Head Coach

Nah Bob Holness … Hoeness it’s close enough.

Tony maybe, but don’t call him Shirley,

He’s not an insider. He’s just some fan account.

What worries me is repeating something like Spurs sacking Pochettino after a run of bad results, which probably had more to do with actions of the club rather than the manager.

Many people still add an extra e to Shankly…

Search Shankley on this site :face_with_diagonal_mouth:. Oh damn, I’m there now…

Or Bajectic.

It’s like whisky. No extra e required on the Scottish version.

I know..I am just putting out the option of Enrique here…

The club are known to be big admirers of Enrique so it wouldn’t be a surprise if they were to throw their hat in the ring should he become available.

I recently read in the Athletic that he wants to retire in his early 60’s (in about 4-5 years?) and before doing so would like to manage in the Premier league, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if FSG where making decisions around Arne’s future in line with that possibility.

We are going to stick with Slot, aren’t we :innocent:

I would say with it being reported that Andoni Iraola is in Germany to finalize move to Bayer then yes. Slot isnt going anywhere. Who else is there?
Forget Enrique as he is signing a new deal after the CL final by all accounts.

Enrique is not an option before he’s free (and interested to join, because you can bet he would have options…). He isn’t free and he’s on a contract until 2027 with PSG of course trying to extend it. In the first half of this season I had a look at coaches’ contracts expiring in 2027 and there was a good number of them. Things change in the meantime. It would perhaps be a dangerous game putting all eggs in one basket and sticking with Slot also because we believe we might land Enrique in 2027. I’m pretty sure that’s not how we will work.

Unless, of course, we have already spoken to him and he’s agreed to take over from Slot at the end of next season.

I suppose things don’t work like that, but if it were true then I could live with it.

Highly doubt Enrique would agree to something like that so far ahead, right now, with so many question marks at Liverpool with Edwards’ and Hughes’ contracts also up in 2027. And the options he’d likely to have on his table. Why would he do that?

If he wants to work in the Prem, then the way things are now the Liverpool job may be the only position likely to be open next year, among the top clubs that is. I suppose he could always go to Villa or, don’t laugh, Everton.

A year can be a long time in football, places can open up. With Enrique’s stock being so high at the moment, I’m almost 100% sure he wouldn’t agree to take over Liverpool at the end of next season. He can take his time, prolong with PSG this summer or carefully pick another project next season or at the end of next season.

Well, this is a kind of fantasy thread so Enrique’s just another fantasy atm.

This here makes appear to me that we must be a somewhat unattractive address right now for any ambitious manager. The club seems in limbo, and too many unknowns are lingering around. The name LFC is great, but if the structure isn’t right? Hmm…

I wouldn’t go that far.

We are still attractive, but perhaps not everyone would pick us if there would have different (top) options.

Truth also stands, we have different question marks to solve between now and the end of next season, not only the head coach role (don’t know why it’s called “manager” in this thread).

It is just so disappointing. Just going by the style of play, Iraola harkens back to the days of Heavy Metal football whereas PSG is just the more well coached version of Slotball.
