Congratulations.
driven through Speyside loads of time, lovely part of the country, just so quiet and relaxing.
all you can smell in the air is Whiskey!
The Spey is apparently one of the best whitewater rivers in the UK. Nothing too serious, mostly Class II but moves steadily. Several of the riverside distilleries cater to the paddling crowd.
Another one on the list is the Dumoine, but skills will need to be wired tight for that, seven days in the wilderness with some fairly serious rapids.
I quit my job that I haven’t got a raise at in 5 years. No bonuses, nothing. New job has a raise after 6 months built in and a bonus every 3 months
Started a new job that turned out to be awful. Fortunately realised soon enough to be able to go back to the previous one with the counter offer they made me still on the table bolstered further by them realising the size of the hole I left. Unusual route to getting a foot up but a real positive in the circumstances.
Also did my first ever 100km bike ride. Went out on my own one Sunday morning, felt good so just kept going. Pretty pleased with that.
That just about sums it up for me.
My nearest and dearest all still here is a huge relief, other than that I can’t think of one thing I’ll remember 2021 for with fondness.
There are so many aspects of my life I should address which could make it far more rewarding. Taking those first steps is the problem.
Thats how I broke my big bike milestone back in 2020 went out for a medium ride and just felt so good I didn’t stop, did you ride through anywhere nice?
Depends on your definition of nice I guess. I’m south Leicestershire so mainly hit country lanes and villages this way and down into Northamptonshire. Nice enough but hardly the Loire Valley or Tuscany.
What’s your record and where do you ride?
I’m based near Warrington so did my hundred miler through north Cheshire going through delamere forest and Knutsford. As with you it’s nice but no continental European hotspot which I would love to do a cycle tour of someday
Personal Highlight of 2021: getting out of a marriage (just about a year-long, got married during the pandemic) when I realised that it wasn’t going to work out.
Oh and also moving back to the UK from Texas USA (yes moved for my ex). I was dying inside out there! So happy to be back!
Scottish whisky does not have an “e” in it.
smart arse…
I only logged in tonight to check my PMs… and to correct your spelling!
