PL Champions Parade 2024/2025

Be sure to behave, Maria. Don’t do anything @PeachesEnRegalia would do. And send me some pics. Hope you have a blast. You deserve it!

They have taken us off the M6 onto an A road, that’s sacrilege! We stopped off for a coffee. 45 minutes away from Chester.

A339, right?
Port or starboard?

Correct! 67A, so both.

** appending this to say I thought you meant “stern” instead of starboard…this is definitely stern.

Nope. Starboard.
Port and starboard are nautical terms (adopted for air vehicles as well) for the left and right sides of a vessel - respectively, when facing the bow (front). Stern is the back.
67A is therefore on the leftside window at the end of the rear section. It’s my prefered area when I’m not in a hurry to deplane which is very often.

My apologies for being so pedantic, but having been in the aerospace industry (technical side) for a dozen years early in my worklife and flying maybe around five hundred times in total, I can’t help it. (Been to many aircraft museums and airshows across the world too).

Anyway, more apologies due to everyone for going heavily offtrack.
To pull it back, I wish you (and everyone else too) a most enjoyable time at the Parade, and the match today if you’re in attendance. YNWA!

I know bow and stern, somehow knew starboard is right, but failed to reason that port is left. You have no idea the can of worms that you opened by mentioning your line of work — I have an aviation blog (hasn’t been updated in 5 years, but who cares).

I always remembered that as Port Off Starboard Home (POSH) But last time I was in Liverpool, it occurred to me that it rather depends on whether they have docked facing up or down river.

@RedWhippet
Long history but in short, the term starboard was evolved from steerboard of boats which was traditionally placed on the right side of the stern as originally, most sailors handling the steering oar were righthanded. That being so, to give the oar more space, the vessel would dock at ports on the opposite side of starboard, hence port side. Just remember that port is left side when the stern is behind you.

Aviation being baked into me at a young age, stuffs concerning it have been with me since then. I spend much more time on it than football as besides LFC matters, and WC Final + Semis & Quarters that involve England & Argentina, I have little interest in other clubs (except laughing at the likes of ManUre & the Arse) and national teams.
But enough of the deviations from the thread topic.
Should you want to talk more of airplane related subjects, open a thread in General Chat Topics, and I’ll join you there.
YNWA.
