Horrifying. I hope everyone is relatively okay.

The video I’ve seen shows the driver swerving in the crowd and stopping the car after running into several people. The fact that the driver didn’t keep trying to ram more people makes it appear more like a tragic error than something intentional.

I agree. That’s what I’m hoping

17 people wounded apparently

He went down middle of street hitting people, car stopped for a second, everybody had moved to the side and the car then turned to the right to go into more people. I think it was intentional. It didn’t keep ramming people because of the bodies stuck under the car.

53 year old white British man.

What should we focus on? Age, ethnicity, nationality, sex?

Man arrested after car crashes into people

A 53-year-old white British man from the Liverpool area has been arrested in connection with an incident in the city centre. A car crashed into people on Water Street following the Liverpool FC Premier League victory parade on Monday.

Merseyside Police were contacted just after 6pm today after receiving reports that a car had hit a number of people on Water Street in the city centre. A large emergency service presence is at the scene with police vehicles, fire engines, ambulances stationed around the Water Street area. An air ambulance has also landed near the Liver Building.

In an update, a Merseyside Police spokesperson has said: ā€œWe would ask people not to speculate on the circumstances surrounding tonight’s incident on Water Street in Liverpool city centre.ā€

Good luck with that!

I think it’s best we don’t speculate at all. Be that about the person, the motive, whether it was deliberate, whether the police had opened the road or anything else about it.

Let’s just focus on whether people are okay. The rest will come out in time.
