Dangerous driving, and then work up from there. There is a section on “using a vehicle as a weapon” which then points to more serious offences:
From what I have seen if actual eye-witness reports, they are not a terrorist. Obviously, this is an ongoing police investigation, and there is a lot of evidence to sift through. There may be charges within the next couple of days, but it will take a while to process.
The “blame the fans” game started pretty quickly, and unfortunately, there were also the usual victim comments. I think the best thing is to ignore it all. In contrast, there’s also a lot of positive things: people helping each other, supporting each other, and being there for each other. Lots of messages from people saying they’re shocked but fine, etc. I hope we learn more about the background soon to put a stop to all the speculations.
If anyone takes that from it then they need to reconsider what they post online and don’t.
This is a joyous occasion that for the most part really was being enjoyed by the whole Red part and neutral parts of the city and was ruined by a vile cretin.
The management of it also wasn’t the best from the railway station to some of the promotion. Could have done with an app on the bus so you could follow it
The driver is extremely unlikely to have been a terrorist. There’s no basis for calling him that.
There is still no information about what his motives were, or if he was drunk, had a panic attack or an epileptic fit. There are a lot of unanswered questions, and assuming that he’s a terrorist, or evil, doesn’t help the investigation or the victims.
It’s difficult to be patient, but jumping to conclusions is dangerous and foolhardy.
How does a vehicle gain access to hit people in the first place?
Would have expected road closures all over the city with barriers blocking access and police manning those barriers.
How could this happen??
With the Christmas markets in Germany, there will usually be an access route for emergency vehicle left accessible. I think there was an ambulance there at the time, so it may well have been for that.
