We are ok, thank God I will update you soon. I am checking out soon. It was such a fantastic, surreal and unique weekend except for the horrific incident at the end. My phone signal was down, battery low due to taking loads of pictures and videos, reception was poor where i was. We couldnāt get home till past 11:30pm. We ended up ubering to Chester. There were problems at Lime St station. I am sure there was more than a million people. Despite the raining, people were coming and there so many people around the world flew in.
We were at the start of the parade and i was right on the kerb seeing the team bus pass right passed me. My friend got a wondeful pic of Mo. Afterwards, we walked/jogged to another part of Allerton to Smithdown road, then ubered into the city centre towards the The Strand.
Pictures and videos, plus a report coming in due course.
I am checking out today. I will update you soon.
Thanks for thinking of us who went to Liverpool. Love you lots
The police were quick to state that it was not a terrorism related event, and because of the type of speculation that was rife after the tragedy in Southport they were also quick to identify the culprit as a white male in his fifties from the Liverpool area.
So letās have no more mention of terrorism, eh?
I have to say that Iām amazed that the vile c**t behind the wheel was able to get as far as Water Street. Why wasnāt all Dale Street traffic diverted to Exchange Street East and Castle Street?
Great to hear that you were safe and had a good time. Itās important that the fantastic joy of the occasion not be forgotten in the sadness about the incident.
Looking forward to seeing your pics and videos.
The unverified claims Iāve seen (mainly on this thread, but also on the Grauniad article on this) suggest that the road was reopened, the driver was impatient, and hit someone, which resulted in many fans chasing after him, which made him panic.
That really seems to be the most likely situation.
As you say, weāll see. Weāll probably know a lot more by the end of today, most importantly how the two in intensive care are doing.
I felt dirty posting that, but if weāre going to speculate Iād rather the narrative be a more benign version rather than speculating about terrorism (despite the quick statements from the police otherwise).
Unless the driver hit someone before that first woman in the video posted by @retro_helix, then I donāt see anyone chasing him, so that scenario seems unlikely.
New footage before the incident happened. Driver already aggrevated everyone beforehand for some unknown reason then proceeded to drive into the crowd. Might be an impatient nut who ended up stuck there, angry that roads are blocked. Some people are just too stressed to be allowed out in public but there you have it. https://x.com/RT_com/status/1927112765417689417
Thatās a good example of how insidious Russian digital propaganda is. They leap on any negative news coming out of a hostile country and amplify it to the maximum. Thus strengthening the impression that there is chaos in that country. Itās a slow drip feed of negativity that, over time, suits their purposes.
