Major travel update for fans heading to Liverpool FC victory parade

A number of stations on the Merseyrail network will be closed as hundreds of thousands of Reds fans head into the city

Liverpool fans are being warned that a number of stations on the Merseyrail network will be closed on the day of the Reds’ hugely anticipated Premier League parade through the city.

Merseyrail is urging passengers to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys as the network prepares for a hugely busy May Bank Holiday weekend, with a number of large-scale events taking place across the region - including the hugely anticipated Liverpool FC Premier League victory parade.

A special timetable will be in operation on Sunday 25 and Monday 26 May, with some stations temporarily closed to help everyone travel safely. As well as the parade on the Monday, the city will play host to BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend at Sefton Park across the weekend.

Customers are being encouraged to buy tickets in advance from any staffed Merseyrail station to avoid ticket queues on the day.

Merseyrail has now revealed the key changes that will be made to its network ahead of the huge weekend in the city.

Sunday 25 May

Station Closures:

• In Liverpool City Centre, James Street and Lime Street low level stations will be closed all day.

• On the Northern line, Bank Hall, Walton, and Cressington stations will be closed all day.

• On the Wirral line Capenhurst, Bromborough Rake, and Green Lane stations will be closed all day.

Thanks for this information.
I am coming in on the Wirral line daily.

There must be a way to get to Mossley Hill. Or uber?

Not sure, but might need to go to Moorfields… not Lime Street..!!!
All part of the fun of the trip eh Maria :0)

If i go to Liverpool parkway, then i can get to Allerton. The only way is Uber/taxi.

Worst. Yazz impression. Ever.

Why that weekend of all weekends?

@Maria remember everyone will be thinking the same. Also it will be more expensive due to surge pricing.

Bus/walk? Is that feasible?

The way it sounds from that excerpt, I think it’s to manage crowd levels on the trains.

Not an infrequent occurrence when systems are expected to be overloaded, I think? I know they do it often in London.

The only other alternative is going to Liverpool Central station. I am not sure if i can get a train to Mossley Hill. I need to ask someone.

@Maria Just get a pair of these. :slightly_smiling_face:

She’s still got her leg warmers from the 80s, too, to go with the roller skates.

Why is the blue and green line longer than the red line? It’s embarrassing that you scousers allow this to happen.
