Post match: Arsenal v Liverpool (EPL 8/1/25 8pm)

Absolutely

I have always shook the oppositions hand, what goes on the pitch stays on the pitch, however how I shake the hand may be different from player to player and I may have had a word or two as I did it.

Makes it even worse in fact. Even Royston Keane recognised Trossard deserves to hear a loud crack which causes his team to disintegrate. It’s what LegoMan deserves

for clarity the VVD one was because the foul was already given, and VAR was then ‘forced’ to show the ref it was in the box.

if the ref missed it, i doubt that VAR would have gotten involved due to that thresholdy thingo…

mind you, ill keep saying this…once the ref was reviewing it he should have said it wasnt a foul, no freekick, no penalty.

As much as Martinelli was a cunt for shoving Bradley, this bugs me more. It’s proof the rotten attitude starts from the head down more than the silly shit Arteta comes out with in interviews.

Remember the last time they failed to win the league after leading it was after the 1:1 draw with Liverpool.

as the dust settles ive seen a few things i find quite distasteful, keep getting mentioned again and again, ive addressed them before, but its again in that area where i just start questioning myself if ive gone mad or if its the world…

Conor rolling back on the pitch, is now being seen as a fact, when it didnt happen, there is a moment where he straightens out, and takes more space on the pitch, whatever, even if he did roll off and then back on, the ref takes that time into account, and adds it on, but the bigger point is that its still not in martinellis, or anyone apart fron the ref, to get involved…cunt.

Martinelli not realising how ‘severe’ the injury was…stiff shit, cunt, you still have no right, in any way whatsoever, to take matters into your own hands, Gabriel did same to Wirtz in the penalty incident, which wasnt dealt with either…

Arteta mentioning same…as i said after the game, hes basicallly saying his player is OK to mahandle opposition players, green lighting this kind of additude…what a cunt] of the highest order, i just dont get how hes not being dragged over the coals about this…even UTD in its hey day didnt just try to roll injured players of the pitch or pick players up whod been knocked over…its outrageous

He was actually trying to roll off and get urgent treatment because he was in agony. That should have been obvious, and throwing the ball at him wasn’t going to help. Even if he was off the pitch, there is no way the medical staff could have used stretchers with the game going on around them. I mean they even halt games if that is happening in the stands.

At the end of the day it’s yet another in a long list of instances where opposition players take liberties with our lads because they know we’re as soft as shite. We even have a goalkeeper who will run 50 yards out of his goal to placate them and stop them being sent off.
Until our whole mindset changes it will continue.

here here Jaffod. Our players should have (at a minimum - I understand the restraint to avoid getting a red card) refused to shake hands with Martinelli and any other Arsenal player who sided with him. Ditto Slot should have called LegoMan a cheating cunt to his face and then the post match should have been all about Arsenal continually overstepping the game and having an ethos that is continually close to breaking the rules. Then have a spokesperson call out Arsenal and look to raise the issue publicly and in the media. We should also have a team of comms/info people who continually background on our opponents and refs etc who fail to at least retain the veneer of impartiality.
Hopefully FSG realise ASAP that part of ‘moneyball’ in the EPL involves the off field playing the game and we are now at a point that a lot of the ‘marginal gains’ (actually huge fucking gains) are to be achieved away from the pitch.

Slot had a subtle dig at Arsenal by implying that Martinelli shoved Conor because players are always faking injury and wasting time. For me he could have been more explicit and actually said Arsenal players are known for these kind of dark arts tactics and just assume every team does it too. He was too polite again.
I also get annoyed when Virg and Ali try to play the peacekeeper with opponents. Just make sure your own players behave and let the other side get sent off if they want. I can’t imagine Grobbelaar or Reina giving Martinelli a cuddle.

Was fucking raging watching that. Love Ali, but that’s the second game in a month where he’s trying his best to stop an opposition player get sent off. Every other team are trying to get players sent off. You’re a good human being Ali but just stay in your goal and pray next time ffs

I give Alisson something of a pass because he’s devoutly religious and Martinelli a fellow Brasilian. Think he was just trying to be a peacemaker.

But would also like to see the club make something more of the general behavior of Arse and the way refs handled the incidents with both Bradley and, earlier, Wirtz.

Still think overall our 2nd half would’ve been decent value for the whole 3 points.

Arsenal fans were chanting ‘Gabby, push him off’ as a Portsmouth player was down on the pitch on the weekend

thats shite, indicative of the club etc etc… i dont think we can get too obsessed over it as its just the fans
