Settle down, new guy.
There was so much that was wrong about our performance yesterday. The three goals that were conceded were basic defensive mistakes that should have been dealt with so easily. With Mo and Gakpo playing on the flanks it was like playing with nine men. I can’t remember either player beating their full backs. The substitutes at half time didn’t make any sense as Ekitike being on the bench from the start. Frimpong looked one of our brighter players and is taken off and our best midfielder pushed back to fill his position. Nine times out of ten Alli would have just picked up that ball that they scored from at the death. I think we can write this season off as I don’t see us finishing anywhere but the bottom half of the table. As for Slot he couldn’t be blamed for any of the three goals but his decision making is very questionable.
Nobody is asking you to moderate your views. The title awarded to you, as a bare minimum sets some sort of expectations for veterans like you.
When you say things like this, it sets a precedent, how people should feel empowered to ask for a loss(or be glad about it), if it helps get rid of managers. That’s the modern day supporter for you.
I will stick to my beliefs and I will never be glad or feel relieved for this club to lose a football game.
And, I do not need to bring my age, my family or struggles to justify that !!
If Slot stays till the end of the season, then, what’s next in your wishlist ? we lose out on top 4 !! What if, the next interim or permanent manager couldn’t get top 4 either from here ? would you wish them to sabotage next season so we could get rid of the new guy as well ? Where does this end ?
Life is never always rosy…it comes with its struggles.
If a manager tries to find solutions to stop the bleeding for a few games by making us solid, then he is criticized for style of play.If he throws the kitchen sink by putting on attackers, then he is being labelled naive.
6 months ago,he was the master tactician who brought the solidarity in Klopps team to find the balance. It’s very clear that Slot did the perfect crime by winning the league last season. If we finished 6th last year, it would have been acceptable to everyone after Klopp’s departure.
Fact is Players have let him down this season big time and he has been handicapped by that twat Hughes.
I just hope sanity prevails at FSG and Slot is given time till the end of the season. Dunno when did we become utd 2.0. First season of struggle after winning the league and we are unable to stand by the manager, but will go an extra mile to defend silver tongued charlatans like Hughes/Edwards.
Last but not least, my earlier post was not targetting you specifically. My problem is with this mindset and the precedent it can set in future. No man is perfect and neither is Slot. But, I am going to back my manager and stick by him through thick and thin, till he is at the helm.
We keep saying our players don’t look fit enough…but with Klopp…the players looked as if the could run all day…has it anything to do with Slot changing recovery days…not staying in hotels the night before a game…don’t worry…I don’t know…I’m grasping at straws to make head n tail of why we are so shit at the moment…
I think that’s a bit rose tinted. Plenty of times they looked shattered under Klopp. Klopp was more vocal on the schedule but it did little difference.
Just to be clear, I offered all posters the opportunity to vote on who they thought was ‘Poster of the Year’ for their contributions to football dicussions, and @Sweeting and @RedOverTheWater came out on top.
Neither asked for that badge, and it certainly wasn’t given with any accompanying obligations to post in a particular way. After all, it was their football opinions that made people vote for them in the first place.
Sweeting is one of the best posters for football knowledge on here.
His personal views about the club situation is mirrored by many and it’s fine for him to have that opinion.
The 4-2-2-2 formation reminded me of that Man United clown show under Ralf Rangnick a few years ago.
It might be…but its the only excuse I could find to explain why we disappear at 80mins…and implode…
Slot is a great admirer of Guardiola’s style of football, preferably with as many midfielders as possible who pass the ball endlessly to each other without taking any risks. The difference is that we don’t have Haaland.
The poster of the year award was treated as a bit of a laugh, nobody took it too seriously, and it certainly shouldn’t be used as stick to beat posters with. I get enough of this (…as a moderator you should set a higher standard for the rest of the blah blah fucking blah) and it is really tiresome.
Sweeting is entitled to his views and his disappointment, and he is as entitled to a bad day as much as anyone else here, especially after that shitshow of a performance yesterday. I say that as someone who has been incredibly reluctant to put too much shade on the manager.
This loss really changes the arc of this stage of the season (December-January fixture cluster and so forth). A week ago, the narrative was that Slot had stopped the bleeding, we were playing better but were unlucky/lacking/etc and couldn’t quite turn some close draws into wins. Now the three wins in December look to be a little island in the midst of a sustained struggle that goes back to October
True… but we all understood why they were shattered because of how we played and now, we wonder why they look tired especially at the stroll like pace we play at
ummmm
Most people didn’t take it too seriously.
You’re not supposed to say that out loud with @SBYM in the room.
Personally I take the accolade very seriously. I’ve added it to my CV, and the favorable parking spot and executive wash room are most appreciated.
On a serious note, Sweeting is top notch. The whole forum knows that. While I personally don’t ever want Liverpool to lose a game, if the upper story is taken that we need a change of manager, then one more dodgy result, if it expedites a necessary change, is not the worst take.
As ever, we are fans commenting on a forum. None of this actually affects the team or the result!
Hope it’s on your LinkedIn.

Just wanted to comment on this last part…
In a day and age where players or their entourage are constantly online or on social media, I’m not sure that the negativity spewed on here doesn’t have an impact on the players and club.
I would harbour to guess that it does more than most people think. Certainly the media feeds on it, the crowds feed on it and they probably feel it when they go home because their spouse, girlfriend, family, child, etc. read something about how supposedly shit they are.
It is probably an impossible feat for everyone to support the players and manager when they struggle but it would probably help. This isn’t a criticism or a request for people to change their ways but merely an observation in response to a statement.
There would be plenty of people thinking the exact same thing.
If Slot holds on through a series of ugly draws it just prolongs the inevitable.
