Post Match: (EPL Liverpool v Crystal Palace 23/5/21 4.00pm)

Same, it’s satisfying enough for me considering everything, one player misses most games for another team and they seem to struggle we’ve been without four or five key players for the bulk of a season.

I think some people quite enjoyed the struggle mid season, it allowed them to proclaim Klopp was done like Dortmund. Ignoring that too was because of injuries which once back they surged up the table, however this time Klopp didn’t have a winter break or time to amend the team he did it on the fly.

A Liverpool team should never go without Europe, however ironically this is the longest streak since the 80s that Liverpool have finished top 4, maybe Klopp’s removed that fifth season issue that hit Rafa and Houllier.

3rd. Would you believe it?! 3rd. With 10 matches to play we sat in 8th. It’s all I can think about. We finished 3rd. Magnificent achievement given all the adversities the boys endured. At times I even found myself pondering if they would have enough to do it or if the universe was simply not going to allow it.

So many things to say and yet I can’t organize any of my thoughts after such an emotional roller coaster of a season. Maybe over the next few days I’ll have something more to contribute. Just running out of superlatives to properly describe our club. The media and football world always counts us out and leaves us for dead and yet our boys never roll over or give up. Really proud of this group.

I said in the match thread it’s bittersweet to see it end. I want the boys and The Boss to go away and get some rest and recuperation and spend time with their family, but I am going to miss them until the new season starts.

Not one mention of my part in the recovery!!
Pre MatchThread starter for the delayed Mancs game, the Allison special and the games where Nat and Rhys entered folklore.

I will discuss terms and conditions for 21/22. How fitting that we will achieve our number 20 in 21/22. Nice ring to that.

Anyway…
After all the heartache and misery we are in the CL.
Thiago has shown the sublime talent we acquired last summer. Despite the thuggery of Richarlison.
We will have Virgil back next season, despite the thuggery of Pickford.
Throw in a few really poor decisions and you see how this season was destined for failure.

3rd is remarkable considering all of that.

CL and PL double next season and I’ll accept it :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Edit: And start the Mbappe thread please.

You think that somehow all the injuries slipped my mind? Or did you see me claiming that they had nothing to do with what happened?

I am happy that we qualified for the CL but more than that I am relieved. That’s the extent of it. Covid and injuries cheated us from a proper title defence and the top 4 finish feels like the bare minimum of what we were due; a scant consolation.

And yes Klopp is a better manager manager than Guardiola.

Why? Has he been spotted house hunting in Formby?

Aren’t we forgetting someone. @Quicksand mounted a hell of a late rally to clinch the Champions League spot.:smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Really feels like today a huge weight was lifted, I think missing CL would have been massive to be honest. It would have forced Klopp into more of a consolidation effort rather than an addition and attack again.

He did well, but the decisive factor was me not watching.

Consider yourself banned for the whole of next season as well.

Yes.

Not only that, but the Mbappécopter has been spotted several times.

This season shows what football is about. Football has never been a one way route and will never be.
Imagine how boring it would be one club wins the league year in year out, even it‘s us. That happens in the german bundesliga with Bayern Munich.
Football for me has to be emotional. That includes highs and lows, ups and downs(as long as there are more ups and highs). And a lot of stuff to talk about.
Considering the cicumstances of this season finishing third is an achievement, me thinks.

Those drunken lunatics were showing Arsenal vs. Brighton, Wolves vs. United and City vs. Everton. What an awesome assortment.
