The pundit on Radio Merseyside yesterday (Craig Hignett?) before our game said he thought Michael Oliver did a decent job in very difficult circumstances.

Goodison got the send off it deserved. A scrappy draw ending in a punch up, celebrated like a cup win.
They thrashed us 2-2.

I said before the game, dont give them an excuse to make a dvd. With some help from Oliver that’s exactly what they got.
It winds me up that we sometimes allow ourselves to be dragged down to that level.

Ian Darke said something very similar on ESPN.
Very standard talking head discussing referees. Most of the poor decisions were inconsistencies in the refereeing, allowing Everton to do much more physical challe ges than we were, and its too hard to try and talk about that in 30 seconds so they just say the referee did their best.

What difficulty there was in refereeing the game also came entirely from the way Everton played. Seems to be missing the point considerably to then wave away what breaks they got from the ref because of the difficulty they created in refereeing it down the middle.

Amazingly, there is loads of coverage of how wolves were hard done by with the various decisions that went against them, from the Diaz goal somehow being problematic for a foul in the build up, to Konate getting away with violent conduct while already on a yellow, to Jota getting away without being booked once the ref overturned the pen.
All 3 are absolute nonsense, but seem to what the general conversation is focusing on.
