He actually whipped a few decent crosses in, at least in the first half. The fact that no-one was getting on the end of them was more about the lack of team cohesion. Mo looked good for the first few minutes after he came on, but I was convinced that he had been subbed for the last quarter of the game.
How close are we to meltdown?
Ok we often played like it was a training session however I don’t think it was that bad. An error from Szoboszlai which I don’t think should have been given as a penalty. 2 penalty calls for us one on Salah and the one on Konaté that weren’t given.
We had our moments where we looked much better than them unfortunately some individual errors and poor passing, in general, let us down.
It led to very few goal scoring occasions.
Frimpong has been criticised yet I thought he was much better higher up the pitch and coming back to defend (I think with Salah Galatasaray might have scored an honest goal).
We saw that Kerkez is a big problem VVD became really frustrated with him which only seemed to make things worst. I guess his confidence is shot now and Robo needs to come in.
Gravenberch repeated the same mistakes over and over, can he not turn to his left?
I liked seeing VVD with more urgency. I’ve never thought he is if captain material, for me he doesn’t lead, and he lost it with Kerkez last night.
At the moment Alisson is essential it would seem. I hope he only has a niggle. Then again our new goalie might be alright.
Our press and marking is poop. We need someone in midfield to slow the opposition attacks down.
Most of our players just keep the ball too long like they are all play makers and last night that was compounded by poor sloppy passing. Dribbling through the opposition doesn’t work much of the time might as well try long range shots or short passes in the box (oh we already do that).

It’s time to drop the expensive under-performers to the bench and go back to basics of defending and attacking (including set-pieces).
Very little difference except Frimpong can run fast.

Why? This reeks of entitlement. I hate seeding of any sort. Sole purpose is to rig the competition to ensure that UEFA and the TV and sponsors get the final they demand for their 
..

Agree. Any team with aspirations to win it should be able to beat any other team they meet. Last season we fell just short against the eventual winners, so presumably we weren’t quite strong enough. Don’t know if seeding would have helped in that case, as PSG (or potentially others) were able to beat us.

Surely we don’t really want Salah dropped?
I know he’s been quiet, but come on. Galatasaray defended terribly in that first half, had he been on the pitch instead of Frimpong we’d probably have scored a couple.
Can’t agree that Frimpong was decent unfortunately, his lack of quality on the ball is alarming.
Salah is still our best option on the right by a mile.

Oh well… going to Istanbul was never to be easy. So, that’s two defeats in a row. Have we already had this since Slot came in? Can’t remember.
Hopefully the wheels won’t come off for good. Chelsea next at London. A big reaction is needed.

Not half as bad as when he came on Vs Palace, a vast improvement, though I’ve seen enough to worry he was decent last night.
Of course in the EPL he gets out muscled far too easily.

I’m not expecting much of a reaction, we’re not firing on many cylinders, there’s just too much to put right and it’s been in the coming for far too long. Add to that all the new players it’s going to be an up hill struggle.
The lack of service the strikers are getting is just baffling. Now we truly are starting to see what we’re missing with Trent gone. Trent would play at least 2-4 passes a game that would split the defenses. Also, whenever Milo’s runs overlaps Gapko I already know Gapko isn’t going to play that pass.
The ref dictated Galatasaray’s tactics after giving them a very soft penalty early on and then followed it up by allowing them to roll around at a mere touch and the time wasting tactics.I am not saying we deserved to win but we should have walked away with a no score draw. Taylor on Saturday is going to follow the same pattern by pandering to the baying crowds albeit not as crazy acting as the Turks, allied to that we need to get our new players to grow a pair and start fighting for every ball and bench Konate for Gomez.

All very odd. Statistically Wirtz is creating chances but he’s being panned for his performances and production and the strikers don’t seem to be getting chances.
Saw a lot of times last night where from the TV angle there looks to be an inclusive pass to be made but either the forward didn’t make the run or the pass didn’t come.
We bought two full backs that like to overlap but we don’t seem to be playing in a way to take advantage of that either.

Either Gakpo doesn’t know where Kerkez is going to run to, or Kerkez doesn’t know where Gapko is going to pass to. This should improve with time, but I can’t help to think that a bit of coaching would help here.

Gakpo just keeps ignoring the overlap. Every single game he’ll ignore it to cut inside and shoot.
It’s a simple fix. It’s an easy pass to spot and execute. He’s playing like he wants every touch to be a goal or an assist, he won’t play the pass before the assist.
Getting the overlap pulling it back from the byline is one of the most effective ways to break down an organised defence. We keep refusing to do it.
