In which case I apologise for getting the wrong end of the stick. I think we can agree that it was not our best evening, but hopefully the lads can redeem themselves in the return fixture.
I think weâre going to have to stop addressing Ifti as HRH
I think itâs great, that this match happened before our upcoming PL game Sunday.
Itâll give our management the right intel to figure out how to utilize the new âtemp fab 3â come Sunday and ThursdayâŠ
We have van Dijk and Matip who are so much taller than any other Arsenal players and out of the 9 corner kicks 8 of them does not make it beyond the first post!
It drives me crazy what are they doing at Melwood!
I was skeptical prior to the season starting if Elliot was ready for the prem. Now I canât wait for him to be fit again. I never thought we would be in a position where we desperately need our 17 (??) year-old player to be fit ASAP.
Throw in practice.
Truthfully weâve been out of form for weeks, or at the very least, inconsistent. @kopstar hit it spot on in a different thread, our boys have been on a bit of a wobble for weeks, and thatâs even with Mo and Sadio in the side. It wonât be any easier without them here.
My point being, there isnât much that can be done except keep working and weather the storm. There wonât be any panic buys in January so the boys will have to figure it out collectively. As supporters we also must keep our nerve and ride it out with them.
All of that said, I do think the squad is showing signs of growing stale. Itâs commendable weâve been able to keep the boys together for so long but I think this summer would be a good time to freshen it up a bit. And it pains me to say this but Taki isnât at Liverpool level. Iâve championed him since Day 1, my posting history will bear that out, but Iâve officially come to terms that he isnât a great fit here.
Last note, I thought this an odd statement from JĂŒrgen about Origi. Iâm not attempting to stir anything but this almost reads as a riddle:
âDiv is not available. Div didnât train, still injured, still in recovery, so he cannot help us in this moment,â he said.
âBut I donât see any kind of scenario [where he leaves in January].
âPretty much everything can happen in life, but in this moment I would say he will be here.
âAnd hopefully fit soon! Because we actually could use him quite well now.â
Yeah the calls that one or two players who were missing or one or two signings would have changed this couldnât be right. When we suck, itâs usually the whole team that sucks. Everyone plays a level or two below their best. We look lost, lack ideas or creativity and no one to lead the side towards something. The entire team looks jaded or indifferent. Usually the youngsters do provide the spark in such games.
Not sure what happens behind the scenes but lack of motivation or fatigue shouldnât become an issue. If a player is fatigued, why play him continuously? We could have rotated yesterday, we did have players who could have started instead of being on bench.
And City do have the core constant for a while now. They never have the motivation factor or problem in winning games after games, season after season. Not saying they donât freshen up their squad or we shouldnât, but that shouldnât be an excuse for whoâs here to not perform.
We donât deserve to be in the final if we canât beat this Arsenal team.
Why are we still so bad at set pieces? I mean we really suck at it especially corners.
I loved the point someone made yesterday in the in-game thread. Our shots yesterday were way above the targets, yet our corners couldnât beat the first man. Corners are basics, getting them wrong time and time again is really frustrating⊠donât Trent and Robbo train those?
In a word, toothless.
Of the starting XI only Matip looked remotely effective. Jota may have scored after he was fouled but we only looked even slightly creative after Curtis, Neco and Ox came on.
I can only hope that some of those players improve in training. Trent, in particular, had the look of someone only just back from illness.
Kinda glad I didnât get to see the whole thing. I did see Minaminoâs miss though , and iâve no words for that really.
Jota would probably have scored if he hadnât been fouled, would have been a complete different game and no one knows what the result would have been. Itâs not over yet its only half time.
Shite is the one I used, you can borrow that if you like.
We donât half look shit during the winter period, starting to dread every Jan⊠like theyâve been on the last all Christmas, so fucking sluggish in everything.
I think this Lfc team doesnât handle lack of fixtures well.
Whenever thereâs a gap for a period of time we struggles to get going.
This squad are showing signs of standing still in the transfer market for too long. When united were successful they replaced 2 or 3 every summer. We donât. We hope the same players of 4 and 5 years ago can still run through walls.
We need fresh blood and more depth.
We have a squad filled with sick notes. I know a ÂŁ90m signing could break his leg day 1 but we need a squad that can compete with City.
We canât compete if our entire midfield can never get on the pitch and our star players are out of form but no one can step up to fill in so we keep slogging the players through every game.
FSG need to invest but I never see a scenario where 4 or 5 top players, better than what we have or at least as the same level come in. FSG donât do that. Klopps performed miracles for years but we now need investment.
Why not buy Bellinghamâs little brother, they are usually tougher, due to their older brothers being pricks. Once the little brother starts taking the ball off them, they hardly play again, probably why he moved to Germany. Get in on the little lad.
Hope they not training at Melwood while the rest are in KirkbyâŠ!!
