Post match: Liverpool v Arsenal (EPL 11/5/25 4.30pm)

He showed in the second half that he is still coming back from injury. Yes, we need reinforcement at RB but at the moment, that is Trent.

I was quite happy that they chanted his name after he was subbed. That will be good for his confidence. But booing Trent? What did they want? Leave Conor on and risk him being injured? We need him in peak condition for next season.

Besides not getting close enough to Trossard on the cross (which a lot of fullbacks are guilty of because they don’t want to overcommit and be left for dead), Bradley did very well…which included 1 goal saving tackle (in the 2nd half) and 1 important headed clearance (also in the 2nd half).

Created 1 brilliant chance for Diaz too who should’ve done better (was never offside).

What if Bradley goes down.

Trent’s job is still here until he leaves. I’m sorry but I’m in a minority and see no issue with Slot making that change here.

I want us to win games, but apart from the last, celebration game, where I would like Trent to be applauded as he was instrumental in us becoming champions.

But for me we should be looking at players who are going to be here next season.

Trent for Bradley was always an anticipated change, and vice versa. It’s a change Arne has made frequently.

Ultimately he brought on a player who has publicly come out and said he doesn’t want to be here, so for that reason I’d have rather seen Endo or Quansah. Fully commited players that do want to be here and would run through brick walls for you and be part of this success story.

If you want to boo players there’s the Velodrome. You can also scream ‘CHEVRE’ (GOAT) at the top of your lungs.

Strange game. Both sides had something and nothing to play for. We bossed the first half but we were flat in the second, which coincided with a rejuvenated Arsenal who pegged us back. 2-2 in the end. Just about fair enough.

The goal at the end was frustrating. Konate did commit a foul, but that sort of stuff, and more besides, has been going on all season, not least from our opponents. So the right decision, but the lack of consistency in how corners are officiated grates a little.

Trent booing? Mixed emotions. On the one hand fans are allowed to express their feelings, and a good many gave him a booing. Not everyone, but plenty did. On the other hand, you support a player in the shirt, and YNWA should mean something.

All in all it seems like a bit of a storm in a teacup. I would liken it to a scorned lover reacting sub-optimally. It’s nice to be nice but sometimes emotions get the better of you.

Finally Arne Slot. I don’t think he made a mistake. He spoke well in midweek. Disappointed Trent is leaving, naturally, while also offering some fine words about Bradley. All good. Bradley started today and did well. He has obviously missed a lot of football, so it looked like Slot was managing his minutes. At that point Slot should use the playing resources at his disposal, and if he wanted to put a perfectly fit and capable Trent onto the pitch - a player who is still on our payroll, then he was well within his rights to do so.

Arguably Slot played a blinder. Draw out the booing you suspected might be coming, and now draw a line under it. Trent had his say. The fans had their say. Now we can celebrate at the end of the season, hopefully without this rumbling on and becoming a thing.

I think it was a mistake by Slot and that he’s going to think twice before repeating it in the last home game and risk spoiling the celebrations.

The last game should be celebration of our title win and Trent was part of the team that won it, I would hope he would be applauded for his role in it.

Not fussed at all about the result. It’s typical: everything is already done and dusted since weeks, and this is more a friendly than anything else from our perspective. The lads’ levels of intensity will go down, it’s natural.

The booing? Not fussed either. Trent leaves, he knows that some don’t like it. So he gets booed. Big deal. He was also applauded later in the game, when he nearly scored with a good free kick.

By the way, he’ll be booed at Real Madrid whenever he commits a mistake, so he better gets used to it.

I said to my daughter (who is a massive TAA fan) theres no way they are going to boo him…then that…

i never thought id see the day…MO was banging on about it after the game but i cant remember him be booed as he left the club…

very dissappointed.

theres seems a wave of sentiment here that Slot made some kind of error in putting him on too…which is bonkers…you cant not put a player on because the crowd might misbehave, is this really where we are at? anyone suggesting its the wrong thing to do just have a quick rethink…(i know this is the internet so not expecting anyone to admit they changed thier mind) but just take a pause and have a quick rethink…the claim is the manager did something wrong becuase people in the crowd booed…surely…surely?

Really? It’s happened to like a dozen ex-players for the same reasons. Everybody associated with the club knew they’d be mixed reactions, everybody. There’s a reason the likes of Firmino, Agger, Xabi, Sadio, Sami, Stevie, Barnes will never be booed and the likes of Torres, Sterling, Owen, Mcmana and now Trent will.

Put on a player who wants to be here, as opposed to 1 who doesn’t.

So he can destroy Quansah’s confidence even more by playing him in a position he isn’t accustomed too?

These viral fan fuckers can fuck off. Because they can make a video doesn’t mean their opinion is worth fuck all. Like that bald fraud in his shit layer.

As opposed to his confidence remaining intact by not getting off the bench? Can’t imagine he feels any better seeing a player that doesn’t want to be here get minutes over him. What’s worse is the guy who ended up coming on, was the same guy who played Merino on for their 2nd goal and didn’t even bother moving an inch until the ball was in the back of the net.

Slot isn’t the one who has chosen to leave. Has every right to play Trent how and when he sees fit.

Trent made his choice, he needs to live with that. No need for Slot to mollycoddle him and given how fickle Madrid fans are I dare say Trent might want to get used to the odd whistle or boo.

For what it’s worth. Trent is neither a brilliant RB nor a brilliant midfielder. He is a brilliant somewhere in between. His contract is up, he’s fulfilled his commitments and is free to go where he pleases. Any so called fans booing him need to give their head a wobble. I’d boo Sterling for being a greedy overrated twat, but not Trent.

Better than playing at right back so some video viral twat can moan about him there.

Booing a player isn’t something I’d feel like doing. It feels a bit childish. But you can’t legislate for people behaving as they want to, and if people feel the need to express how disappointed they are in Trent, they are entitled to. The league is won, and there is little on the game.

It worth remembering that people aren’t upset he is leaving. I don’t think people are that arsed about not getting a fee.

I think there is disappointment because the penny is dropping this this is something that has been planned for years. Trent has colluded with Madrid to run down his contract and move there for a free. That’s why people feel betrayed. If Liverpool and Trent had failed to agree a contract and an offer had come in that he’d decided to take, I don’t think there would be the anger.

I don’t care what he’s doing in the future. He is still technically a red and still our player in the pitch.

You NEVER boo your own player on the pitch unless they do something like actually try to hurt another player. Thankfully our lot aren’t like that. We have a no-dickhead policy.

Having said that. Trent is becoming a sideshow that is taking enjoyment away from the fans and our other players. Maybe he doesn’t need to play any more.
