Post match: Liverpool v Atalanta (EL 11/4/24 8pm)

As bad as the players were this game. Klopp is also to blame. He should of fielded his best team from the start. Try and get the lead and then use all his subs and rest players.

Going weaker from the start also shows the players that he doesnt think Atalanta should be feared. ( yes i know we need to rotate).

So everyone is to blame for a lack of urgency and casual lackadaisical attitude to this game.

Its not that we dont want to win. Its that we thought the win was guaranteed.

On top of this, I think we could theoretically afford to put out a ā€˜weakerā€™ team IF we always played in a consistent style and the lads coming in fitted into it. But weā€™re making changes that fundamentally change the shape and output of players. Gakpo and Elliot are completely different to Diaz and Salah. Gomez at right back completely different to how Bradley has been playing the role and kostas, who just didnā€™t play well tbh, unable to play like a left sided Bradley or left sided Gomez or Robertson. No consistency in styles, patterns or ideas

The Liverpool crowd has always been our not so secret weapon, especially on European nights. The crowd is the fuel that energizes this team. To organize an action that takes that weapon and fuel away during a European night quarter final leg, is akin to cutting off your nose to spite your face. Ironic for a group, such as SOS, that purposes to support their team to such a great degree, that they choose to help torpedo that same team during a crucial part of the season. Thereā€™s a time and a place, and now is not it.

Iā€™d say that actually on the contrary, things got worse once the preferred individuals came on.

It felt more like a lack of chemistry and just overall precision in everything we did, more than any lack in individual quality per se.

Klopp made that point himself in his post-match

If there is a team that is capable of turning this around itā€™s Liverpool. It wonā€™t be easy, but itā€™s certainly not out of the question  Fortunately, for me, Iā€™m not really arsed either way. Iā€™d much rather get caught out in this competition, and then try to sort it out, than the league. If we get battered on Sunday itā€™s over imo, but the fat lady (Lizzo) ainā€™t singing just yetā€¦

I think the biggest issue with SOS is that they just seem totally detached from reality. Talking about lads being unable to put food on the table is just really, really tone deaf.

I would imagine there are plenty of lads in Liverpool who genuinely struggle to put food on the table thinking how nice it would be if the thing they were weighing against buying food this week was going to a game of football.
