For whatever reason you’ve got a super RB on the bench that we need to keep getting game time. He will play at times this season.
He may have said something but the change was totally right.

I too hope it was nothing more than that, given the wrong attitude shown by TAA yesterday,
Slight concern though, only slight. With the contract thing, RM supposedly waiting in the wings to pounce, Trent being splashed in the media a lot more since a new girlfriend is on the scene etc etc… Just hope he remembers he is a Scouser through and through. No need for getting his head turned by the sparkle and glitter from other interests… BUT, with leading the game 2-0, and Brentford were looking slightly gassed at this point… the match was ticking into ‘Showboating’ time, and Hollywood passes, and everything else that comes as a reward from doing the hard yards in the earlier parts of the game (If one was so inclined to see it that way). Getting dragged off at this point would upset anyone though, especially when he is so close to becoming Captain of his boyhood club… I just hope he doesn’t forget that, amidst the flash lights going off from the media
Slot has made the point a couple of times when talking to the press that one area we can improve is in not trying to hit the killer pass so soon. Our commentary claimed a couple of times that Slot was remonstrating on the touchline about us forcing a ball forward too far too early, and there was one notable moment of that from Trent late in the second half where we were entirely comfortable in possession in our own half and he suddenly tried to find Mo with a 60 yard ball in behind that ran through the to keeper giving them the ball back. It was not long after he was taken off.
I wonder I Trent’s tendency to do that when the game doesnt need it played any role and Slot wanted to talk to him about it.
Thought this was a really good perormance. The total commitment and intensity/urgency shown getting back to defend is amazing to see. This is what we lacked last season and it’s clear this is a tactical priority. Or better said, if you don’t do it you won’t play. Even Salah is working much harder in that area. My other observation is that, aside from Endo coming on very late, there have been no midsfield substitutions after the first 2 matches. This leads me to believe that Slots finds it critical that those 3 get accustomed to thier roles and each other early in the season. It also appears the midfield 3 aren’t having to work as hard as in past years due to the commitment of total team defense. It’s been fun to watch so far. But as others mentioned, tougher challenges lay ahead.
So was Steve Macca, fat lot good that did
