Post match: Liverpool v Man City (EPL 10/3/24 3.45pm)

@Limiescouse

just for clarity here… if Endo was obstructing the other week, starting from an offside position causing the goal to get chalked off, because he then fouled the player (impeding) shouldn’t the Stones goal get chalked off for the Ake involvement on Mcalister?

or is it that the movement is fine, and Endo got penalised for being in an offside position…

i.e…what was the foul, the offside or the obstruction, or both.

technically, shouldnt Akes involvement in the Stones goal be reviewed?

Edit…my commentry feed actually made appreciative mention of Akes involvement

Endo MacAllister and our academy kids schooled them for 50 minutes only the ref and VAR saved them from a defeat

That studs in the chest from Doku looks worse every time I see it. Mac was bracing for the impact even before he was hit. He turns his head away which was clearly damage limitation. Some pricks still trying to claim he touched the ball first.

I agree with the general sense of your post, but this I don’t agree with. I mean I agree it was from mistakes, but so are most goals. Their goal was because they took advantage of our poor corner defensive set up, where no man was on the front post. KdB saw that, and sent the ball by the goal line, all the way to be touched by Stones and score.
Doesn’t mean that because they “gifted us the goal” by making a mistake that we didn’t deserve to score.

If you pushed, or even punched someone in the chest like that in the area, a penalty would be awarded - the difference here is, that he used his studs up foot, to do the same thing…!
Should have been a penalty all day long

Jürgen has asked what VAR had for lunch. :joy:

Hope he takes down the whole establishment on his way out.

It feels like two points dropped rather than a point won. We were much better team in the second half, a level above Cheaty, just couldn’t land the killing blow.

Still, I am really proud of the boys. We are still in all competitions despite the desperate injury crisis. 13 points won from the last 15 possible. Onwards and upwards.

Its not even worth debating the game with people who pull out “he got the ball first”.

That hasnt been a relevant part of a tackle for a long time.

Apparently Webb has said it depends on the type of studs used in the slaughter.

Endo never committed a foul or obstruction or got penalised for either he got penalised for being in an offside position in that being in that position he did the following, as per the Laws of the Game.

“a player moving from, or standing in, an offside position is in the way of an opponent and interferes with the movement of the opponent towards the ball this is an offside offence if it impacts on the ability of the opponent to play or challenge for the ball”

That is what they was the supposed deciding factor as they felt, load of bullshit, that Colwell could have challenged for the ball.

I remember Webb didn’t think it was a red when, as Jeremy Clarkson described it, a Dutchman kicked a Spaniard in the heart. Presumably this was because said Spaniard used to play for us, so at least he is consistent.

I hope Bernado Silva gets a career ending injury in his next game. Proper bone sticking out of his skin sort of thing.
I would celebrate that like a title.

According to Drury, Atwell judged Doku’s positioning as “reasonable”. Well, at least that’s scientific. I’m sold.

When the general consensus in the footballing world from fans from your bitterest rivals its a penalty. It does make you wonder how Oliver came up with the decision and how on earth VAR didn’t say go look.
