We concede a goal. Trent gets blamed. It is pointed out he was not present in the right back area for the goal because he is not playing. The argument shifts to it still being his fault because the CBs are now confused by having to navigate the game assuming Trent will not be responsible.

So why did Virgil and Slot look so furious at him?
Trent & Jones, Trent should have been witdrawn earlier and definitely at 2 - 1.
If you don’t think Trent was having a very poor game and for me his worst game for us, then you must have watched a different game.
Also 10 players is stretching it, Virg was good, Macca had a very good game, Grav was ok, in regards to Mo, ok but with how the game was going would have loved him to offer more defensively on our right side. On this I feel ir is tactical but when we were defensively, he was helping far more, i.e Madrid and City games

Just thinking about this game, Fernandez had a disciplined and an accomplished performance and kept his head, normally he is whingeing, why because other teams get stuck in to him.
I can’t recollect any of our players leaving one on him to get him moaning, he has a character flaw and we never tested it.
By leaving one on him I don’t mean a break the leg tackle but a few challenges to get him riled so his head goes.

Agreed. And hence Slot should just get to use all his resources (including Trent as he sees fit) until the end of the season. We don’t benefit from selling Trent in a panic - if anything those are the actions of a team likely to struggle mentally. If Trent continues to show poor form he can be dropped and brought back when/if Slot sees he’s ready. Letting him go now would be music to the ears of our challengers in the PL and CL
