That has happened more than once with us vs Madrid. It’s a pattern. You can’t just view that final in isolation.
In mitigation, we were shagged that night. Thiago was fucked and the fan abuse from the authorities definitely affected us. The long season caught up with us.

Yeah noticed this when they were 1-0 down they just looked pissed off when usually they are chanting to their hearts content as most away fans usually do.
Came across as home fans.

Nadal is a weirdo for being a Real fan. He is not a local, far from it, and his uncle played for Barca for a decade winning 5 or 6 league titles and a european cup.

What is the pattern? We have played Real surprisingly few times before the last 10 years (we’d won all 3 of them), and in this recent period the main pattern has been being unfortunate enough to play them when we were not a good version of ourselves
14-15, 20-21, and 22-23: 6 games where were big underdogs given we were doing shit domestically and in 2 of those seasons would fail to qualify for the next year’s CL. Fuck sake, in one of those ties we fielded a CB pairing of Nat and Kabak in the two games and were credited with a gritty professional performance in keeping real to a draw in the second leg.
Outside of that we have the 17-18 final where we were plucky underdogs, equipped ourselves ok, but looked uncharacteristically toothless without Mo, and the 20-21 final. That last one is really the only game we’ve played against them where this pattern seems to shown up.
