Post match: Real Madrid v Liverpool (UCL 6/4/21 8pm)

Result was something I was half expecting but not that crap performance.

Did anyone see the mysterious Ben Davies on the bench last night? I still don’t know what he looks like! I think Lord Lucan has got more chance of getting a game.

Think we can turn this around even if we play with our usual 4-3-3 but I like the two 3-4-3s (especially the first one) I’ve posted above.

The second one wouldn’t work; we can’t have Bobby playing two positions at once. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Corrected.

There was a time where a team with 11 Firminos would be something to dream of.

To be honest 1,000 seemed to make a good go of it before lockdown.

This is pretty good, explains how we started ok but failed to adapt when they tweaked.

So Zidane out-thought Jürgen?

Basically yes, or players didn’t adapt. It’s been a bit of a criticism of mine for awhile that Klopp is slow to make changes ingame.

I think he did, we weren’t expecting them to press us like they did and we didn’t adapt. Zidane set up like what he knew from playing with France from what I saw.
I’m certainly not sure and have to ask do Real normally press like that?
Klopps comments about the Keita selection indicate it wasn’t what we expected and we were looking to dribble through their closed lines yet they were open, pressing and working hard. Their quality on the ball then took over as our midfield was all over the place.
Anyway that’s what I got from that 1st half, where we could put 2 passes together.
I also question why we bypass our midfield so much imo we needed to take their midfield head on keeping the ball moving we didn’t we kept looking for the long ball without the players to do that.
Real gave us a good lesson in the 1st half.

I mustve missed the bit where we started well. Was it in the kickabout before the match?

My only defence of Ketia is that if you start him why start him on the right? Other than that Im still furious with his performance.

Probably should have read we started with the right intention but didn’t execute it well, i.e. Gini didn’t close down fast enough and our trap failed…

We then let them change tactics, didn’t adapt and got destroyed.

We looked very good in the tunnel, before kick off. After that it all went downhill.
