Post Match: Sparta Prague v Liverpool (EL 7/3/24 5.45pm)

What’s with all the moaning guys? Christ, so depressing in here sometimes.

Can we not enjoy a 5-1 win without nit picking over trivial matters?

So in short.

Kelleher is a great keeper but he’s not Alisson.

A performance where we never attempted to get out of 2nd gear and at times if you didn’t know you would have thought it was July and a preseason warm up game.

Yeah he keeps fit.

To each their own. Sometimes celebrations can be overlooked. I have it on credible authority that @RedYank didn’t leave the pub and is staying through Sunday. Let him be an inspiration to us all.

I was told you watched the state of the union at the pub. That made sense to me. I apologize for jumping to conclusions.

You said there’s no way we could have lost that game. That is an invitation to speculate. Of course it’s a hypothetical. If we banned hypothesis on here the forum would be moribund.
Naturally I’m happy that we won 5-1. I’m very excited that we :crossed_fingers:t4: look like progressing in Europe and I’d love to win it, especially if we get Leverkusen in the final.
However, don’t you think that Jürgen and his staff will be looking at how SP came to have so many chances? Do you think they’ll be complacent? I hope not.

Not looking “too far ahead” of course…but after we finish with Sparta, do they toss everything into a hat again for the next opponent?

We wouldn’t have lost it. Their defence was worse than average.

Yep, same as the CL there’s no restrictions in place for the QF draw. Obviously would like to avoid the likes of Roma and Leverkusen in the next round, but we could face any of the winners from the last 16.

They’ll be more scared of drawing us.

Mmm, you say that, but games are different when a team goes up by several goals. We could have been behind by a couple to the break, if they were sharped as they were much better than us in the first half and produced much more. We were instead up 3. We then would have had a totally different game in the second half and although we are better in second halves, speculative as to then how good Sparta would then have been if they had entered the break with belief in victory and not crushed spirits like we saw on Thursday. Halves and games lives different lives, also according to psychology of teams on the pitch.

But it’s specultion. But I cetainly agree with @Bekloppt . Folly to ignore how they outplayed us in the first half and created so much and just focus on the big win. Fans can do that, coaches (and hopefully players) absolutely never. I truly believe that to focus on just the positives, is the road straight to hell and damnation (football-wise). Better to always note what dangers there were in a given game, and this one had a lot of them.

Ok
If it makes you happier…

We were blessed to get a penalty, the foul was ten yards outside the box.
We really should have been four nil down at half time.
All our goals were flukes.
Klopp out.
We won’t pull back a six goal deficit in the second leg.
Bradley was brutal, Nunez couldn’t hit a barn door, Salah has to go in the summer…

Happy now?

I’m more concerned about the knives.

What a weird response. No one is saying anything like that.
Why be so petulant?
