Of course im fucking serious, they were woeful, Wirtz maybe not quite dog shit, but easily cat shit, then. Isak barely did anything.
I wasn’t able to watch but was that change tactical or more the fact he’s just 19, played 80 odd on Wednesday and this was his second start in less than four days.
I detest Arsenal and their anti football with all the good players they have. Every contact falling over and then wasting time. The NBC announcer sobbing their knob saying how great they looked. More like Stoke trying to park the bus.
Thought we were the better team after their goal. They had our press figured out up until then. 2nd half was the product of their shot style and the ref falling for it.
Thought Isak was good really, not as great service as he would’ve liked. Not just him but the through pass at the line looks on for a few of our attackers but the pass never comes.
Also thought Wirtz was okay until the 2nd half when he looked tired but I think you can tell our attack changes when he’s not on.
Also since when is VD an attacker. Thought he was out of position a lot
I would hope it is the 2nd
Why is Barcola getting all the stick for this 2nd half perfomance when there were players in that front 4 who were far less effective.
What did Gakpo or Isak do today? Having a little joke around despite his shirt being pulled.
Don´t know but it made us worse either way.
More or less ended us as a threat.
Well Wirtz and Barcola are easy targets. I don’t think Wirtz played badly but we lost so he gets it in the neck.
Isak and Gakpo were nonexistent.
Were we a threat in that second half at all?
I don’t remember any….
Yep.
This one is on him.
Fucking ridiculous casual pass leading to their goal
Shit ref and Arsenals shit tactics aside I think today showed that we’re far off with our attacking quality throughout the squad. Might be enough for a top4 finish but not enough to dominate big teams at home.
His reaction after the pass was just as bad. Just wandering round his six yard box and then watching the ball go one way then other and then a half-arsed attempt to cut out the cross.
I thought our attack looked brilliant for last 30mins of first half. Denied a blatant penalty and missed a couple of sitters. Could have been a very different game. Second half they just closed the game down with diving, time wasting and everyone behind the ball
Agree but brilliant 30 minutes are not enough on that level.
In a perfect world Isak would be backup for Hugo. Barcola and Rio would be competing for that spot on the left and we should have a world class RW with Munoz behind.
I think we also can now start asking the question if Flo and Dom can play together. Maybe they should be competing for that #10 spot.
Unbelievable that Isak didn’t appeal that. Yes, he shouldn’t have to to but surely every footballer has a natural emotional reaction to that. He didn’t seem to care ![]()
Our problem wasn’t a lack of pressure on Arsenal but inability to open them up in the final third.
I think for large periods of that game, especially the last 20–25 minutes of the first half, it was all us. Pressure, pressure, pressure, but unfortunately we just couldn’t find a way through.
I’ve got friends who are Arsenal fans, but let’s be honest, they’re horrible to watch at times, aren’t they?
That said, they’re efficient, well organised and defensively a very tough nut to crack. Not the greatest team on the eye, but a very good side nonetheless.
And while we’re on the game, how on earth was that not a penalty on Isak? The standard of officiating in the Premier League is absolutely shocking at times, and for VAR not to pick that up is ridiculous. You can clearly see he’s being pulled back just as he’s about to move his head forward to make contact with the ball.
The frustrating thing is that Isak stays on his feet and doesn’t make a meal of it. So what message does that send out? Basically, if you want a decision, you’ve got to throw yourself to the floor and make sure everyone notices. Surely that’s the complete opposite of what we should be encouraging?
The PGMOL seriously needs to look at situations like this because all they’re doing is encouraging players to exaggerate contact rather than rewarding those who try to stay on their feet. It’s absolutely baffling.
Anyway, putting that aside, for me the biggest thing is the improvements we’re seeing. You can clearly see the work the manager is doing and the direction we’re heading in.
I think we’ve got to be realistic as fans. Expecting us to mount a serious title challenge this season is probably asking too much. What I want to see is continued improvement, better football and signs that we’re building towards something.
If we finish in the top four, have a strong season and maybe pick up a cup along the way, I’d be more than happy with that.
Then next season, with the manager having had a full year to work with the players and get his ideas across, let’s really have a go.
For me, this season is about progress, seeing the team develop and, most importantly, getting that excitement back about watching Liverpool again. And I genuinely think we’re starting to see that.
We’ve spent hundreds of millions of pounds to bring in players that can break down teams that park the bus and we are still to slow in getting the ball forwards and allowing opponents to get players back and block our attack. A bad mistake from Ali for their goal but he did make a fantastic save half way through the second half to keep us in with a shout. At least we are showing a lot more fight in games and were unlucky to not get at least a point from the game.
I saw the game with a friend and I am not happy, obviously. I thought we played quite well against a very good team though. We should have had a penalty. The Isak situation was a real mistake by the ref, but no point harping on about that. I suppose some would say we should be able to score from open play, even against a hedgehog like Arsenal. But we did ok. Not great (I’ve seen Arsenal better too), but we were ok. Just not heroic enough to get points.
Frustrating, but we’ll see next game.
He complained to Timber , but not to the ref ! You can bet your life they would have been screaming for a pen and for it be VAR’ed … and they would have got it.
