Post match: UCL Atletico Madrid v Liverpool (UCL 19/10/2021 8pm)

Are you from Argentina? Just wondering, no need to answer if you don’t want to.

If we take a look at Simeone’s plus points, it is clear that he is a leader, he has a vision for what he wants, he runs a tight ship, he has assembled a very talented squad and the players play for him. He has triumphed in a league where he should be third best. So, there is a lot to admire.

However, there is a lot to dislike too, and personally I can’t stand his cynical approach to the game, the histrionics he employs, the thuggish/robust approach of his players, his crass celebrations and gesticulations (I’m thinking of when he pretended to hold his cock) and his bad manners.

I have no affinity to Atletico or Simeone, so I take it as I find it, and I don’t like the fella.

Who has said that Simeone should kiss Klopp’s hand? Shaking hands with an opponent after any sporting event is about good manners and sportsmanship. How is that snobbish?

Same, I think he’s ace and others are being a little too precious.

His football is terrible to watch but he’s box office otherwise and he’s getting the most out of his squad.

It’s not so much the style of football as the gamesmanship and downright cheating.
A well organised defence is nothing to be sneered at. Under Rafa we perfected the art, and as others said, it’s a tough league. What is repulsive is the diving, whining, surrounding the referee and so on.
That’s what makes the team unlikeable.

Spot on.

For Simeone , read Suarez. Two win at all costs , snide sneaky bastards and totally brilliant at what they do. Little wonder Luis went there actually , and helped them become Champions !

I think simeone does play good attacking football. It’s just the other parts of his game tactics which are distasteful. With the talent that atletico has , they shouldn’t need to go for the shithousery

Suarez behaved like a twat when he came on as well. Booked for abusing the ref.

Suarez also tried to low bridged VvD heading a ball that could end up with a big injury (Suarez actually got booked after that incident when he got into the ref face). A-hole.

I don’t buy the “at least he was our tw@t” phrase. If he tried to injure our players (remember he ran the studs on Robbo’s calf during our 4-0 vs Barcelona CL Match?), he’s the enemy and crossed the line.
