Easy to blame Lopetegui but the players - with the honourable exceptions of Bowen, Kudus and Wan-Bissaka - are a disgrace. Paqueta thinks he is far better than he is and is basically a passenger, while the likes of Soler and Alvarez are like tortoises in midfield. Liverpool may be very good, but a Champioship side at home would have given them more problems today.
Liverpool forward Mo Salah, speaking to Sky Sports: “I am glad for the result. To score the goal early and we dominated the game very well.”
On Luis Diaz’s opening goal: "Luis [Diaz] was screaming and I knew that I was offside I had to run towards the goalkeeper - clever play.
"The only thing on my mind is I want Liverpool to win the league and I want to be part of that.
"I will do my best for the team to win the trophy. There is a few other teams catching up with us and we need to stay focused and humble and go again.
“I am just trying to enjoy the game. At the end of the day I came here for the result and I wanted to do something in the game, but I am almost hungry for more.”
On contract talks: “No we are far away from that and I don’t want to put anything in the media.”
I would say that was the best performance of the season, but tbh it felt like a training exercise. Very straight forward to get in behind that West Ham side—a far cry from the battling pain in the arses we played at Easter.
Total annihilation. 5-0 flattered them. First clean sheet after a while too. Would have been perfect if Gomez hadn’t limped off.
At some point, it was reminiscent of that 4-0 against Leicester after becoming champions of the world but this one was an even more dominant performance.
Has there ever been a time when the entire frontline has scored a goal (and in Salah’s case also grabbed an assist) before halftime?
I’d like more of this please. Especially on Sunday.
“So Arne, 5 goals, clean sheet, lots more chances created, 8 points clear at the top with a game in hand, you must be delighted with that”
Arne - “I didn’t like when they hit the post…then the bar. I didn’t like being forced into making an early sub. We could’ve scored more and if we didn’t lose to Forest we’d be even further clear.”
I hope the majority of every Arsenal, Chelsea, United and Cheaters fans were watching this game today… How deflated must they be feeling at this exact moment
Should have had 10 in both of the last 2 aways. Goal difference is 9 better than anyone else, worth an extra point.
Hope Joe is ok but we only have 4 PL games in January and Konate might be back for at least 3 of them.
Pressure on Arsenal now with 2 aways before we play again. They really have to win both.
When Bowen went off, it showed a replay of the tackle, Macca got the ball but his trailing foot took out Bowen, no intent, resulting in him going over on that ankle.
