Pre-Match | Chelsea vs Liverpool | EPL - 04/10/2025 - 5:30 PM

Far too harsh. I’m disappointed in his form this season (and also as his contract runs down) but come on! I had a comment censored (a haha Nelson/Simpsons meme) that I made in response to Rodri getting injured and how sad it was for Cheaty blah blah so I wouldn’t be surprised if this comment is eviscerated.

It’s Arne Slot’s biggest test.

I don’t think we can really go again with Konate. He isn’t really showing that he is likely to recover his best form, so maybe lighting a fire up his arse and telling him to play for his move is the right approach - Madrid aren’t buying him to £0 on this form.

Otherwise, it’s really hard to know what to do. Do these players need time together on the pitch to work each other out? Or is the more beneficial thing to bomb them out and essentially punish them for struggling to settle.

I don’t understand what we gain by sending players to the naughty step when what they really need to time to gel with each other.

For example, the Kerkez/Gakpo partnership is annoying, because on about six occasions last night, Kerkez made the overlapping run around Gakpo, which would have given him a easy cut back, and Cody totally ignored him, in favour of cutting inside into traffic. How does that get sorted by benching Kerkez? That said, Robbo got no minutes last night, so maybe this has been earmarked for him for a while.

For about 20minutes Wirtz looked like he was starting to cook, but the Slot put him on the left when Ekitike got injured. You could see his shoulders slump.

I am convinced Mac Allister is carrying an injury. He moves like someone in pain. I think the club need to get him right, even if that means keeping him to 15-20mins for a while.

I think I would go

Marma
Bradley Gomez Van Dijk Robbo
Szoboszlai Gravenberch
Wirtz
Salah Isak Gakpo

Second half - Macca for Wirtz, Chiesa for Isak, and Rio for Gakpo.

Slot’s last two in a row were Paris and Newcastle last season, maybe it will bookend the poor performances in that period.

There was a period when we drew with Forest, drew with Man Utd and lost to Spurs that was similar to this.

I do hope Chiesa plays he is the bright spark at the moment and Hugo won’t likely play even if he is fit enough for the bench.

Problem is he is bound to go and play a full 90 for Argentina and their manager will blame Liverpool for his injury.

I’d probably leave him out and use Curtis Jones anyhow based on the fact Curtis just looks better however we can also use Dom in CM.

After playing there earlier in the season, and looking like the best RB at the club, fans were screaming for Dom to be played there more. Now after one bad game it’s absurd to play him there?

I think Dom is the kind of player that Slot just wants to get on the pitch. With reason, because he is fucking great.

He’s a midfielder man, c’mon.

I’m sure that Arne and his team will know the personnel, formation and tactics to see us through this game. COYR YNWA :+1:

I am not looking forward to this. I’m sure the boys have been training with urgency, but things don’t get fixed in a few days.

You said the same last two games.:joy:

Yes, he is. I know that.

But when he was playing Right Bsck earlier in the season because both RBs were injured, we were all fucking creaming ourselves at how good he was. Best Right Back in the league and he’s not even a Right Back.

He has one game there when we don’t win (and he was hardly the issue) and suddenly it’s a travesty to ever play him there?

Recency bias.

We need to win this, even if it’s just to make Carragher eat his words.

I have no idea how this game will go, but we need to get better unit cohesion, or it will be difficult to get in our best form.
I suppose on the basis of the last few games, Chelsea must be a favorite here. But that doesn’t mean that they will win and I will remain hopeful.
