Pre-match: Liverpool v Aston Villa, Saturday 20th May, 15:00

Virgil was in an offside position when Diaz knocked it down/back. The only consideration is whether the deflection from the Villa defender that directed the ball to him resets play, and that is pretty clearly not the sort of intervention that is supposed to play an attacker on.

Both looked miles off

Just how the MOlike it

Is it because Virgil is ahead of the ball and there’s only 1 defender between him and Diaz?

It used to be, but you are right, not anymore

This one is not remotely controversial. That deflection is not close to what is required for it be a deliberate play of the ball to enable virgil to played offside.

No it didnt. That the player cannot be offside if he is behind a teammate who played the ball is often misinterpreted to mean you cannot be offside if the ball goes backwards. But that has always been a misunderstanding.

Poor Moreno. Just came on. Makes a great play. Does his hammy. Summer comes early.

I hope not. It would mean he’d disappear based on today’s performance.

It is sad to see Jacob Ramsey run rings around Hendo like Hendo wasn’t there…

Kompany and Campino is the stands

It’s noticeable that when Moreno picked up thst injury that he was off the pitch. He had to get back on to hold up play.

You can try to die on this hill and continue to feel aggrieved if you wish to, but that isn’t how the rule is interpreted.
