This is only speculative on my part, of course. But I think you’re assuming that Arne’s statements after the summer/winter window closed are a reflection of his intention all along, rather than a reaction to the consequences of not buying another CB during those windows. Frimpong and Kerkez always looked better suited to be wingbacks rather than fullbacks to my eyes. But again, I’m only speculating.
