Pre Match. PSG vs Liverpool. CL Quarter Final (First Leg). Wed 8th April 2026. 2000 hrs

Genuinely, I was really happy with how we started the game against city. I wasnt looking at the clock to comment on the 35 mins remark, but I thought we did well and fought well in most areas of the ground. I think the second goal was soon after the first, and I thought our response was appalling after that point. A true capitulation and I thought if City wanted to put us to the sword, it would have been much worse than 4.

It’s the only thing I want to see at PSG: a much better response when we go behind.

Mama actually looked solid for the first time against Man City. Very little he could have done for the goals scored against him if I remember correctly.
Then again that pass for Salah might be influencing me too much.

The Semenyo goal is the only one he had a realistic chance with, but that’s pushing it. Ali would have probably conceded 4 in all honesty. Slot just needs to go now. Like saying we have better options than Ramsay at RB in a presser. Absolute joke. No wonder they stopped trying according to the captain.

They did. They were the better team for the first thirty, and that’s why the other 60mins was such a disgrace.

There were maybe a few too many flicks and trick for me, but really we should have been two up if we could actually take the chances that we created.

It was a penalty conceded against the run of play, and that was all it needed for the team to just give up and clock off.

Who will pick the team tonight then?

You and I.

I thought that his positioning was suspect for the 3rd goal, he was too far right. The ball ended up right at the middle of the goal.

We all need to… calm down.

We just have to hope Arne picks the right team on the night and the lads need to pick themselves from last week. We usually play better in Champions league matches.

We just have to watch the match and see what happens and then discuss/debate/shout at each other in the post-match thread.

I did say possibly that goal is maybe the only one we could criticise, but that’s nit picking a bit as it was a superb finish. It’s obviously not ideal having one of the best keepers in the world injured but honestly in my opinion Mama is the least of our concerns and for Slot to have a small dig like that in public is piss poor management…AGAIN!!!

I have zero nerves or apprehension coming into this game. I also have zero expectations from it.

That isn’t right, but it’s where we are this season now.

I’ll watch if I can get a feed, but more through fascination rather than excitement.

Take care. @sbym will lure you in of promises of chocolate digestives.

You have been warned

I think what comes across as a dig at the players is often a language/translation issue.

I know where you’re coming from with that view point, but I’m personally not convinced. To say he was hoping Mama would save a couple or that we have better options at right back than Ramsay (even if both things were true) in public, he knows what he’s saying and what it means in my view. His level of English is superb.

I am not convinced it is a translation issue. Slot’s getting his excuses in early.

Most Dutch people do have technically good English. However, it is not common for them to miss some of the subtleties and inferences in the language. Of course, he may just be crass, but I wouldn’t immediately assume that.

@dildoswaggins i never thought I would be agreeing with you with Slot’s comment on Mamardashvili.

I still say though, we all review at 22:00 hrs GMT tonight with our TAN family in their respective time zones.

Does everyone think, are the players slowly ‘downing tools’? I am not sure yet.

I thought that they did in the FA Cup game against City. I watched the last hour mainly through loyalty. I did think that there was an improvement earlier in the year, but since the Spurs game they have just been playing when they feel like it.

I expect that they will give it a good bash tonight as it isn’t the mythic “rainy evening in Stoke” but the lack of consistency is a sign that they are simply marking time until the season is over.

I’m pretty sure Slot meant exactly what he said, and that’s not a translation issue. He’s said things like this before, and if it were a language problem, someone would have definitely pointed it out to him by now, and he would have learned how to avoid misunderstandings in the future. I think he simply wasn’t thinking about how it came across or how others might interpret it. He was just focused on making his point clear.
