We were fortunate that the last match, Mitoma wasnât fully fit, Rutter is shit, a Gomezâs assist and Salahâs set-piece to settle all the nerves for us.

We look very confused at how to press. Seen several times where forward players are trying to launch a press and then realizing no one is coming with them. Without putting too fine a point on it but thatâs just bad coaching.

For us fans, distraction doesnât arrive as chaos. It arrives as hope. One brilliant performance, sharp, urgent, and alive, and suddenly weâre talking about progress. Then come four, sometimes five, matches of inertia and shit. Because Slot doesnât need consistency, he needs interruption. One good night to reset the narrative, to make us forget the slow decay happening in plain sight. The red card thing was weird. Itâs definitely a red, but i donât know what Simons thought he was doing. He looked genuinely upset about it.
Iâm just hoping that we can step up a bit in the second half. Wirtz has looked good, and Jones effective, but Szoboszlai does look like he is carrying a knock.
