Quite a list of folks. Didnât realize they were so thin.
Thatâs actually nothing compared to some lists of absentees they had this season.
They have quite a large first team squad with 29 senior players. Of course, some players entered the season already injured, etc.
They will have to trim it down in next windows.
Didnât Spurs have a crazy injury list last season as well
Perhaps all of the injuries is a reason for their poor form this season. I like Thomas Frank and think heâs a good manager. I hope they give him some time.
Do we have a clear word on Szoboszlai?
Canât wait to watch us again. There have been a couple of better signs just lately, and Iâm hoping we can build on it as we emerge from a bad slump.
Midfield diamond for me:
Aliisson
Bradley Konate Van Dijk Kerkez
Grav
Szobo Jones
Wirtz
Isak Ekitike
If Szobo is out then Macca gets the nod.
Iâd like to see the trio of Wirtz, behind Ekitike and Isak, coming to the fore while Salah is out at AFCON. If that trio can start to click, it will be a key building block for the side we are becoming.
Pearce said he could make it
Major surgery, for the splinters in his arse off the bench. Heâs out for weeks.
Forgot the press conference.
Here are the key lines from his news conference(as half inched from the Beeb):
On Mohamed Salah: âActions speak louder than words. We moved on - he was the first substitution I made.â
Having had a âpromisingâ scan, Cody Gakpo might come back earlier than expected. Right-back Jeremie Frimpong is back in the squad after injury, but Joe Gomez is not.
Liverpool are monitoring Dominik Szoboszlai, who trained for the first time on Friday. If he is fit, he will start against Tottenham.
On the trajectory of his team: âNow, I see players progressing in terms of their fitness, and - as a result of that - their performances.â
Slot wishes that he had had more weeks like this week - without a midweek fixture. âItâs almost a mini pre-season for us,â he said.
On Hugo Ekitike: âI have spoken to him more about his defensive work - thereâs not much to talk about offence, because that part of his game is very good. Defensively, I get more and more excited to see what he can do.â
Ibrahima Konate âhas not been as much on the crime scene recentlyâ, not only because of his own performances, but because âwe are less vulnerable in certain situations than we were in other parts of the seasonâ.
Curtis Jones has put in âa very, very, very good performanceâ for three games in a row for the first time since Slot took the job - and his chance of a starting berth improves with each successful display.
Slot is working towards finding a balance with his team. Against Brighton, they showed that they can create the opportunities they previously lacked - but are now inviting more opportunities from opposition. âWe are getting closer and close to the team I want us to be,â Slot said.
On the influence of officiating: âWe have to improve so that we are not so dependent on luck - make sure that this team gets to a level so that referee decisions do not influence results in a way that they have done in recent weeks.â
TL:DR Gomez and Gakpo out, Frimpong and Szoboszlai could feature. We play Spurs on Saturday at teatime.
No big surprises from team news, but it will be interesting to find out how long is Gomez out for. If he didnât go into more detail then hopefully itâs not too long.
Iâd expect then to go narrow 4-2-3-1 again. Bradley in for Gomez. If Szobo canât start but can only do a period off the bench tomorrow, then Iâd start Chiesa on the right.
Leave putting in extra attackers a little bit everywhere without much sense to Tottenham, while weâll swamp the midfield and take the game, thank you very much.
TL:DR Whippy likes running gags.
Injury news seems more promising than it felt it could be to be fair. If Gomez is a hamstring then you can have slight pulls and tears so that makes sense. Assume maybe early Jan, same with Gakpo I guess.
Just got the word.
Only change is Conor for JoGo. Seems Dom is good to go.
bit worried about Rushing Dom back so quickly
vital part of the machine, but if he only started training friday?
we should be able to rotate him through a bit more, one of the question marks on Slot is his almost distrust of anything outside his first 13 or so players.
Doms an awesome player in great form, but we shouldnt be so reliant on any single football, especially if they are now playing in the red zone.
We donât know if heâs in the red zone and if starting him would be rushing him back. If thatâs the case, I donât think we would here. The medical team in this case might have no issues in terms of him going straight back in and play at least an hour.
Going to bed, will sleep with my fingers crossed ![]()
Donât. It wonât make a bit of difference and youâll wake up with mangled fingers.
I will be running my Call of Cthulhu campaign at 6 pm Norwegian time, so will not be able to watch. I will be with you all in spirit though !
I will also demand that my players participate in various hideous and most unspeakable rites. These will hopefully result in much misery for Tottenham, as life is leeched from Spurs players limbs into those of our players.
