Slot delivers probably the most “Klopp-esque” press conference, that I’ve seen so far.

Wow…

Arne Slot asked in Spanish about Liverpool’s big spending: "I think he has been listening to a lot of Talk Sport!”

Strange. I’m looking forward to that game, despite of what Atletico and Simeone represent in football, and our difficult record against them. I know that the game won’t be pretty, that it will be more a fight than a game. There is a big likeliness that there won’t be many goals in this confrontation. A feisty, aggressive affair, with probably a lot of shithousery on display.

Still, I’m looking forward to it. To the special atmosphere of those European nights at Anfield, and also to the test in itself. Hopefully our lads will be up for it!

We struggled to break down Burnley so I expect a big struggle here also, they will sit back and defend, dive and cheat as much as they can and hit us with the odd counter attack and about 80 minutes will put on another attacker and have a go when we are drained.

We’ll see, some games end up harder than expected, some end up easier than expected. Good thing is that we could likely take some valuable lessons pre/during/post Burnley for this task tonight.

Isak starting. I wasn’t expecting that.

Isak starts!
Confirmed team news is in here at Anfield - and the headline is that Alexander Isak makes his Reds debut as part of the starting XI.

Jeremie Frimpong and Andy Robertson also start, with Hugo Ekitike, Alexis Mac Allister and Milos Kerkez the players to make way from the weekend win at Burnley.

Starting XI: Alisson, Van Dijk, Konate, Wirtz, Szoboszlai, Isak, Salah, Gakpo, Robertson, Frimpong, Gravenberch.

Subs: Mamardashvili, Woodman, Gomez, Endo, Kerkez, Mac Allister, Bradley, Leoni, Ekitike, Danns, Ngumoha

So good to see we can rotate without any drop in quality. Wirtz masterclass incoming.. gut feeling. Just win without any injuries and let’s get off to a good start.

Better for Isak to start after a proper warm than risk him coming off the bench potentially at short notice.

Can’t believe people are still posting Indy stuff like it’s anything more than guesswork. Gets the odd story fed to him but that above is pure “chuck enough shit” and then have a get out whichever way it goes.

Yes, totally agree, the amount of times you see a player come on in a game after injury and they don’t have a sufficient warm up

Lovely to see Arne and Rafa greet each other warmly!
