Mac looks like a shell of a man this season, really strange.
It’s slow, but we take the opportunity to go through the gears when we can. We haven’t had many really clear opportunities, but that’s more due to individual failings killing promising opportunities than us failing to get the ball and players into the situations we want to.
It’s a massively improved performance with the ball that gets us back to the position of reasonably believing as long as we don’t shoot ourselves in the foot we’ll break the game open.we just need to not do the shootings ourselves in the foot thing

Macca off at half time in my opinion, he’s far too ponderous at the moment.
Another nothing half of football from the red men.
Wirtz very good, like what i’ve seen of Gomez. Grav doing well too. Rest can stay in the dressing room 2nd half. Gakpo can already start making his way back to Liverpool.

0-0 is absolutely fine. Despite a couple of lads whinging, this is what we needed to do. Just keep it tight and keep it simple.
We’ll get opportunities in the second half, but we’ve got to keep defending well.

He has been alright today. He looks a bit easy to knock off the ball, but his passing and interplay with Wirtz has been really good.

Positive is we haven’t let in a cheap goal. Wirtz has looked good, albeit a tame shot when a nicely hit one would have paid dividends.
Gomez at RB shores up the defence, and as he plays it simple, can get some crosses in.
Dom on the right is a little wasted though. Had been on the fringes of the game.
We haven’t allowed any sniff of a chance to West Ham, which is a positive.

Wirtz has been outstanding. It’s obvious that he is the future of this team, and he needs to be playing in the ten. Everything else you build around that. If he needs physicality around him, then that’s what you do.

Honestly that’s the best I was hoping for in first half after the dirge of recent weeks. If we can keep a clean sheet and nick a goal then we can start building back incrementally

If I was being critical I’d say that our attacking play still lacks any kind of identity… but to expect everything to fix immediately would be dumb. Defence was the priority obviously and so far it’s been very good.

Quite reasonable, we haven’t conceded, look like we have next to the same number of players on the pitch, dominating and just need to score.
