The real scandal is that we should have started addressing the defense two summers ago, but we’ve consistently ignored it and look where we are now.

We wide open again tonight.
Where was Trent there? Was about to type he had a solid game after 10 minutes not venturing out unnecessarily.
Digne causing us problems, I’m sorry but sometimes Mo has to track him.
For me game after game we struggle defensively down our right when full backs overlap.
And we have also been giving it away too much down that side as well.
Really fucking dreadful. Yes it was handball, but we really should have dealt with it better.
We need to play some football. It’s too timid. Too cautious. We’re not creating anything and relying on sterile possession.

We’ve stood up quite well in the midfield battle, but we look panicky when they do get in behind. Need to properly tighten up second half and maybe bring on Nunez to cause some chaos the other end.

McGin was a yard away from Jota so you cant give that. But even if you think it was, we still had all our players behind the ball. Complaining to the ref rather than putting their heads together to address how to defend that situation better is not a good look from us.

Wouldn’t wait till 60, get Diaz on now for either Grav, Jones or Szobo, dont care which. I’d also consider Darwin for Jota as well but we need to attack these, they are likely to score more so why wait till they’ve done that before making the changes.

I know once again its not good defending but once again the ref has a massive impact on a goal. He blows the goal never happens.

I blame Darwin.
That Jota chance just after Villa equalized was the key point. Need to come out strong. Feel that Diaz would cause problems for Garcia at right back.
