It was.
It’s been explained above. League Cup final clash.
Tough game away. Villa are a handy side, a CL side, and borderline to qualify this season. Our second half against Wolves was concerning. Was it a blip, or was it a sign that the team is getting tired? The Villa game will start to answer that question.
Three points will be a very nice haul to go into the Man City game, as they look like they have turned a corner with dropping another 200M into the side. The sooner they are ejected the better, the cheats.
Back to Villa. Big club. Proper club. I like Emery too, he’s a good manager. Three points at Villa Park would be very welcome.
Why was the first half so good though? I really don’t buy the tiredness argument. Too many switched off we’ve seen it a few times in the past.
Everyone goes tired at half time what did they do go sprint around Stanley Park for 15 minutes?
Talking about playing poorly for a half look at Villa’s against Ipswich.
Villa have 1 clean sheet in their last 15 games, they can be got at - Ipswich did so with 10 men….although we’ll need to raise our game if we want to walk out with 3 points.
Looking like they’ll have to make do without a number of players too; Torres, Konsa, Onana, Cash, Kamara, Bailey and Barkley.
Ultimately we play a first half like we did and something as good as that in the second if not as good then we should be in with a chance.
Neither us or Villa wanted this date but the Premier league organised it at the earliest date available
Quelle Suprise
Think we might see some rotation at full back as Trent didn’t look 100% right yesterday (although had some good defensive actions) and Robbo had another weak day. Maybe Bradley here and Trent back for City?
I HATE VILLA
Not me personally ( I just think they’re shit ) , but a Brummie fella I used to know (Blues fan) had that home-tatooed right up his forearm.
Poor David.
Seems to be a common theme, blue halves of the city being fucking moronic.
We need to stop switching off. We are quietly leaking goals again.
Only 4 clean sheets since turn of the year in 13 games across all comps - 2 in 7 in the League.
Yeah, I don’t like criticising our players, but Trent started very poorly against Wolves. He improved a bit, but seemed a shadow of his former self. I don’t know what his fitness is like, or if he’s carrying an injury, but he only seems half there mentally.
I’m sure that Arne and his side will know the personnel, tactics and formation to see us through this game. YNWA COYR
Innit
Because the higher powers want us to play 8 matches in Feb alone with matches every 3-4 days to hopefully risk injury and ruin our chances…
We were brilliant defensively up to the point that Endrick decided to launch himself into Konate at the end of a game Real Madrid had lost, thus injuring our man and really disrupting the unit that Slot had purring.
Since then we have chopped and changed at the back, and as Konate has got back up to speed we have had issues in both full back positions.
It is not terrible, but the watertight defence we enjoyed earlier in the season has sprung a leak. Ideally it tightens up a bit for the run in, as it could be the difference between winning the title and not.
Even though Cunha scored a worldie yesterday, the defence was good enough to limit a resurgent Wolves side to just that goal and a loss. Mind you, it could do with tightening up a bit more.
I’m not a fan of the extra game this month, but on the other hand, if we use it to extend our lead, it could be a huge psychological blow for Arsenal.
Three tough games coming up. Let’s dig deep and strike a blow to an Arsenal side that will surely drop points themselves when they come up to a tough run.
