Same team that fielded for Spurs, Mac for Jones.
Normality restored. We whoop their asses and we all get back to talking about how we’re the best side on the planet.

When he said he wanted him to have a lot of touches he meant different ones not loads when he holds onto the ball.

Not going to lie, I’m a bit nervous about this one. However…
I’m nervous about every game now.
I’m sure that Arne and his team will know the personnel, tactics and formation to see us through this game. COYR YNWA
It’s unfortunate that this game was postponed at the time. They were absolute shite at the time, and I was quite confident that we’d obliterate them. Now, it’s a different story.
Since Moyes has come in, they have recorded one narrow loss against Villa, and then three wins on the trot. They are on a high right now, and want our skin of course, as they always do. This will be tough.
We have still the better overall quality though, and are flying right now. Our big guns have been kept relatively fresh and focused on the league, so hopefully we can take our good form to Goodison, and follow Bournemouth’s example, who beat them in the FA cup this week-end. Fingers crossed!!!
Edit; speaking about their Bournemouth game: does someone know if Moyes put out a full-strength team, or a reserve team with an eye on Wednesday’s game??
Err when we were due to play them they had just beat Wolves 4-0 and would go on and draw against Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City.
And he went pretty full strength.
Really? I hadn’t noticed that sequence of results, thanks for pointing it out. That makes Dyches dismissal more surprising for me.
If he went full strength, that could be a plus factor for us towards the end of the game.
Yeah they were due to play on the 7th, I remember some jokey comments about them being an inform side due to that 4-0.
Forest and Bournemouth put an end to those results but 2-0 and 1-0 losses for a side where they were was credible.
Probably far more dangerous attacking saying that they lost 1-0 to Bournemouth and just lost 2-0 to them so you wonder if it’s just a regression to the norm under Moyes.
I think the new owner was always going sack him eventually. It was a bit surprising when they did it but wasn’t he sacked after the Villa game. Was a third loss on the trot.
Yes Moyes has done well but he beat Spurs, Leicester and Brighton and they have a habit of beating Brighton. Regardless the result we wouldn’t have won in that weather that day.
At this age, I don’t think he will gain any more height. As for pace, it will not matter as much if Elliott has superb close control, mazy dribbling and a good sudden short burst of speed to beat whoever in front of him against a low block opposition.
I’m always relieved when the voice of reason speaks.
Elliot isn’t the material for a RB, he lacks the attributes for any defensive position, apart from workrate.
Think the last thing Elliott needs is more muscles. He has bulked up and obviously focused on following Salah’s advice on extra gym work and also finishing inside the box. Obviously it doesn’t mean what’s good for Salah that it’s also what Elliott needs, but I’m sure it helps in a way and he has his individual programme. Harvey is well aware that to play in this team, you need to play in both directions. But in all of that, I hope he doesn’t forget other stuff (which should be his forte); technical aspects, creativity, providing numbers (not only goals and assists but key passes), etc. We’ll see what’s his ceiling at this level and how far he goes.
Elliott has had a poor couple of games, I don’t think it means his entire career needs to be evaluated.
He seems to have been forcing his passes, trying to create too much in his last 2 games.
His assistant has 100 appearances for them. He’ll be aware of everything he needs to.
He’d also scored in two of his last 4 appearances (I think), including the one that ultimately saw us top the CL league table
Just saw clips of the famous Gary Mac game from 2001. I had completely forgotten that shortly before the winner we’d had a free kick from a very similar position. On that one it was floated the back post where Sami met it with a great header and forced the keeper into a really good save down low to keep it out. It’s clear they were concerned about exactly that play again and so in retrospect the goal looks like a wicket taken from a spell of top fast bowling - giving them obsessing about dealing with your stock ball before changing it up and catching them with something they werent looking for.
I’d also forgotten that
