Prematch - League Cup - Tottenham vs Liverpool 1st Leg Weds 8th Jan 8pm

I still can’t believe this bollox is two-legged. At least if it was a knockout we could just play the kids and see what happens. As it stands , these two games have the potential to fuck up our entire season.

It is a cup semi ! We obviously want to win it again so will put out a strong team. Personally I do not think that includes TAA. He can play the following week against Accrington.

He’s only good enough to play for Accrington Stanley !

On last nights form that is true. :grinning:

It’s very clear that some fans exaggerate based on the situation. Every player has a bad game. With any other player, you wouldn’t read comments like these (unless Dutch hadn’t left TAN and the player discussed was Gakpo or Gravenberch - strangely not Van Dijk).

I’d have thought Kelleher, Bradley, Quansah, Tsimikas, Endo, Elliott, Szoboslai, Jota and Nunez were nailed on to start this. Don’t know about the other 2, VVD or Konate? Chiesa if fit? Maybe Morton, McConnell and Danns?

Dutch must be having a melt down seeing those two this season.

This is actually is Slot’s biggest test.

Kelleher

Endo Mac
Szobo?
Salah Jota Nunez

If Szobo is still ill, then Harvey. Grav/Ibou/Diaz to get 30-45mins.

I say go out and fight fire with fire, Spurs only have 1 way of playing. The tie won’t be won/loss here but a fairly strong side nonetheless.

Surely he would have insisted when posting, but he would have suffered watching them for sure.

I suspect it will be the strongest possible side seeing as though its a semi for the first possible trophy.

Are Maddison and Sarr suspended for this for 2 yellow cards?

I did hear an interesting suggestion that the League Cup should be the testing ground for a new match format - 60 minutes and the clock stops when the ball goes out of play. I think the average match currently is in-play for a little under 60 minutes. Would be interesting to see how that effected the flow of a match.

Rather cut out the competition, remember the major trophies won and leave it in history. FA Cup immediately gets greater meaning again.
