Play the kids.
Hopefully win.

We aren’t going play “the kids” though are we.
We will probably play a slightly better side than we put out against Soton due to the next game being Accrington.
Hopefully Bradley, Quansah, Van Dijk, Tsimikas, Gravenberch, Mo, Jota, Diaz won’t start v Acc Stan.
I’d also suggest Maca.
Effectively it should be as second string as possible next Saturday though certainly be good for Konate to get minutes. Glad it’s on the Anfield pitch.
Yeah, you’re right, forgot him somehow.
Can see Endo, Elliott, Jones, Darwin, Nyoni, Morton, Danns, Trent, Ibou, Chiesa all getting time in the FA cup.
I’d start Chiesa in if he’s fit against Spurs. Assuming we play the second string xi against Accrington
Kelleher
Bradley Quansah VVD Tsimikas
Endo. Morton
Soboszlai
Chiesa. Jota. Diaz
This is a 2 legged tie. If it was possible to rest VVD , I would have. Considering there’s nothing that is going to be decided on this tie.
Stupid rules.
Even if we are down 0-2 after the first leg. There’s every chance we can play a slightly stronger team in the second leg and beat these.
Dom comes in purely cause he’s fresh. Quansah because he needs the match fitness and Konate needs to be managed post injury.
If Danns comes in fit , let him replace Diaz on the left.
It’s a cup semi final against PL opposition who will be desperate to 1, Avenge their recent defeat, and 2, Get to the final because it’s the only chance they have of a trophy.
Have you learned nothing about hubris in the last 24 hours?
I’ll not be watching as it isn’t broadcast in Germany, but it’s an odd one, as we have players that we could do with resting, but will probably be rested against Accrington anyway.
Konaté shouldn’t play the full 90 minutes as he looked pooped at the end of the United game. I’d be tempted to have him as a planned sub with VVD. However, we do need a strong defence vs Spurs.
Asked why he chose Konate, Slot replied: “Because he was fit. If he wouldn’t [have been] then we wouldn’t have started him, then he doesn’t train with us. The moment he starts to train with the team he is fit again. It is not to say that he can immediately play two games a week, but he can definitely play 90 minutes, like he showed today.
Guess Virgil starts again
Or Nallo and Quansah to utterly dominate Spurs?
Yeah, van Dijk is starting this one.
Subs
Konate for VvD
Gravenberch for MacAllister
Trent for Bradley
Salah for Jones (Elliott to move to #10)
Gakpo or Diaz for Jota
No chance that he plays that team. He’ll go full strength other than the same rotation required if it were 2 PL games in 3 days
Don’t we have Szoboszlai available again? I would have thought giving him 90 minutes here and resting against Accrington would make more sense.
So why didn’t he bring on Conor earlier???
Because from what you posted, Slot said if they are on the team sheet they are fit!
I’m expecting us to try and put out a well balanced team.
But whatever team we do put out, we have to be more compact and organized than yesterday.
That should be a good motivator to solve immediately in the next game, regardless of the competition or the starting team.
Spurs are a weird side. Lots of injuries, but capable of both scoring and conceding goals. Pretty inconsistent also.
It’s the 1st leg and it’s away so we don’t have to go through immediately, but our off the ball work here could be key.
If Szobo has recovered from his illness, I’d probably start him here. He played well in this recent fixture and we need to improve our pressing on yesterday.
Also, there is no way I’d start Nunez here.
First of all because of simple merit on performances and second of all because of his stupidity yesterday.
We’ll see for Accrington, that might be better, 19th side of League Two. No doubt there’ll be more changes for that one than against Spurs.
I’m sure that Arne and his team will know the personnel, formation and tactics to see us through this game. COYR YNWA
I expect us to be more or less full strength - Kelleher may come in and Quansah will start at CB.
The Accrington lineup is the more interesting one really.
If Bradley is fit he starts, for me anyway.
Quansah with VVD and maybe Tsimikas at LB.
Endo, Macca and Dom.
Salah, Jota and Gakpo.
We’ll see how Slot sees goalkeepers across competitions, but if we go by how it was before, the League Cup is Kelleher’s and the FA Cup is Alisson’s.
With Bradley, it depends where his fitness is at, can he start and play at least an hour.
