Good but there are times when Brighton have control and they are capable of getting one back.
I can’t say I’m excited by our somewhat pedestrian play and the crowd doesn’t seem to be too excited either. A very subdued atmosphere.

Just have to make sure we keep the backdoor closed as we have looked dangerously short of numbers from a couple of breaks.
We look like we are playing a moderate press, with more a mid blockm but rather than of late it is a an agressive mid block rather than a passive one.
Loving that we are now having the confidence to play through the middle as there has been some excellent interplay centrall which also helps create space out wide.
Keep up the hard work fellas.
Oh and Mo, better, looking to actually involve other players more than it all being about him scoring.

It’s because of the defeats at home. The crowd have lost some belief.
Half time report, so far so good. We are playing very well. It/s not perfect, but it is much better than most of what we’ve seen this season. Good passing, good interplay, nice little link ups all over the park.
Wirtz has been the stand out to me, he has seen a lot of the ball and he is such a lovely player to watch. Goals and assists are on the way, but even without those things yet, he is more than earning his keep as he plays like this.
Nice to see Salah coming on. He started brightly, made one or two passes, but then he has been a bit more peripheral, though always offering an outlet on the right. I hope he scores in front of the Kop second half, and we get the points. If he ends up leaving in Jan a goal and a win is a better note to go out on. And if he returns after AFCON, a goal and a win is a better note to go there with.
Joe Gomez - unlucky lad. Smashing player. Great attitude too. But it’s the body, innit. He just can’t string a sequence of games together, and Bradley’s suspension (few too many yellows that one) and Frimpong’s injury has meant Joe has played a bit more than we would like.
If he is out for a few weeks the knock-on effect is we are down to the bare bones in central defence, and we really need to be addressing that as soon as the window opens.
Good half, 1-0, Brighton are dangerous and this is far from over, so the next goal seems important.

Was it given as a free kick? Presumably the ref saw it, but it was at least a yellow.
Incidentally, the highlights of the first half are on Sky Deutschland and I don’t have that dirty black mark on the screen. FFS, I actually pay to have a dodgy feed!

Exactly, interesting. They only showed it once on Peacock.
We have had close to 60% possession against Brighton whose strength is normally having possession!
It easily could have been a red. Strange to not even get booked.
And so he fucking saw it , clear as day.

BBC Sport are saying Gomez got a Yellow for the high boot on Wirtz. Did anyone see that?

Really need a second goal as Brighton are getting chances.
Just feel Maca and Gravenberch could do better. I won’t be too greedy though unless we fuck up.
It turns out he was given a yellow card.

Var will explain that it could not be considered a penalty because Wirtz clearly did get the ball before contacting the attackers foot and bringing him down.
