It is just so demoralising to realise even if we win Man City tomorrow, we still can’t get top 5…
I’m going to give you some good news to cheer you up. Even if we lose we will still be 6th ![]()
Look on the bright side, we’re safe from relegation.
There’s fourteen games left yet.
all games going forward are going to be so so important for a top five finish
It’d be sweet as fuck if we could rein Villa in and qualify instead of them.
Not a lot of games left tbh…I fear that the poor league form in Oct and Nov and possibly December may have doomed us to Europa places if the Chavs and Manure and Villa keep up their form..
Fortunately, May 2026 will be where we face all of Villa, Chavs and Manure. When we get to May 2026, I hope it is on the back of a winning streak and not an unbeaten streak where we have more draws than wins.
Yeah, it could be a tight one. Might go to the wire.
Our recent improvement gives me hope that we will finish top five. But our rubbish form overall, coupled with our rivals for those spots improving, means it is touch and go.
Ekitike and Wirtz to both score tomorrow in a lovely win would help!
It’s looking pretty hard for 5th. Jeez.
Still 14 games to go. There will be lots of twists and turns.
I like Wilson, but I’d also say not so fast with such dramatic views…
I can’t be arsed reading it.
I’ll bite. Why time off? Have they perfected their set pieces defending and attacking?
He’s always been suspect for me since his book BS.
Exactly. Can’t say I’m impressed and if we look poor on setpieces surely questions have to be asked about whether those days on the training field may have been helpful. Professional footballers only train (at best) half a day so ‘time off’ training midweek needs to be considered in that context. As to the arguments about the summer, well fuck that - Liverpool should not prioritise players being fresh for their national team in the summer.
Never check the score if you’re not watching live. Hence keeping it as close the KO is best to reduce the chance of social media/friends/internet etc spoiling it.
Obviously a win is both hoped for and required. In the end I really don’t care if we go out of the other competitions, the most important thing is to build momentum in the league form for next season.
For the league, I think there are a couple of key issues that we need to work on/fix. A key issue is how best to use Dom. Yeah he’s great. But some of our best performances have come when he’s used in a more restrained manner. This may be down to multiple factors, one being the quality around him, but ultimately it is a team game and maximising the output of the whole vs the parts is key. Another is the attack. Somehow we’ve ended up with a bunch of tall guys that are a bit static/immobile with respect to how we play. They can be good on the break but when we are camped in their third or the opposition in ours, they come across a bit wooden. Beyond that there is a danger that Dom and Flo are at risk of burn out with the way they are often asked to play.
This version of Man City offer an interesting challenge. They seem to be trying to develop a sort of a Braca/PSG type of a team. It will be very interesting to see how and where we press them and of course how we will defend against them. I can see someone aiming a kick at Wirtz early and pressure being applied to the base of the midfield - Grav and Mac will need good games…
Were g9nna end title race today
