PreMatch | Liverpool vs Newcastle | PL Matchday 24 | Saturday January 31st 20:00h

please slot dont say anything at halftime, just high five the players

Great half of football, we struggled in the first twenty - don’t think we were bad, just that Newcastle penned us back and we couldn’t get out. But we got back into it, and as someone else said we just need to put balls into the massive gaps Newcastle are leaving, and trust our forwards have the pace and quality to make them count.

Thought Simon Hooper has been absolutely fucking abysmal. Allowed all kinds of snide little after and dangerous tackles on our lads, and game them a free kick any time they hit the deck. Gakpo possibly had a penalty shout and the free kick they hit the post from was a blatant dive by Barnes. Really shit performance all round, from the only ā€˜bald fraud’ in Anfield tonight.

you all need to sneak onto the Newcastle forum, its beautiful. They love ekitike, they hate him for rejecting them…

The makings of a really good side at the start of a cycle are there. Sort the central defence, add a winger and a defensive midfielder, and watch us go.

I have been impressed by the fight today, albeit we are only at half time.

We were on the back foot for a while there, but we showed quality and fight, which is good to see.

Let’s go, a big second half needed.

I remember the 4-3 games and this one has a similar sort of feel.

Waste of fucking time. You have to go it, apparently. What? Off the ground with your studs up?

Liverpool fans would be delighted if one of their lads put that tackle in! No we wouldn’t, because if one of ours lashed that in, Hooper would have shown no hesitancy getting the red out.

Hope we don’t start slow in the 2nd half, after Slot’s inspirational half time talk.

Look at their goal, slagging Grav, but look at Mo, Hall is behind him and makes up the ground to make an overlap and 2 v1, no effort to get back.

This times a zillion over the next decade of games.. :0)

Liverpool have threatened. That was absolutely fabulous for the first goal.

Initially from Florian Wirtz, who showed a little sparkle during this game. Hugo Ekitike was the one who started the move off.

Soon as it arrived at Wirtz, he knows exactly where Hugo Ekitike is.

Brilliant play from both of them.

She’s shown her true colours…

We actually are. But we are also mixing it up by going to the wide areas quickly..

The big problem is with the defensive transitions

She obviously doesn’t understand LFC…the we don’t cheat…and play like thugs…

The toe poke finish from Hugo was next level.

Keepers hate it because they have no time to get set and although it isn’t the most accurate you create loads of pace with little back lift

When Newcastle break from their box, our midfield is non existent. It’s too easy for them.

The problem is that this isn’t really a new side, otherwise I would agree.
I mean, after this transfer window, betted by every sensible expert to fight for the title or be favorites, few looked at our team and saw a ā€œnew teamā€, I would think. It was supposedly strenghtend a lot. Supposedly. Alas, as we know…

But yes, I am hopeful like everyone that we will turn a corner and steadily get better and better.

Hugo Ekitike doing his best to keep Slot in his job! What a first season he is having!

Rahul, London

Howe’s ya luck, Eddie?! The fella you’ve tried to sign twice, Ekitike, has properly, not just with his goal contributions, taken this Liverpool team by the scruff of the neck in this game. The fella is special.

Harry, Maidstone

The most breathless dozen minutes I’ve ever seen in the Premier League - we haven’t had a throw in, so nobody can relax. Remarkable and furious pace of play.

And the defence is so deep that there is a huge space between them and midfield which doubles the issue. Been an issue all year but not showing any signs of improvement.

Not relaxed about the coming 45.
