PreMatch | Liverpool vs Newcastle | PL Matchday 24 | Saturday January 31st 20:00h

Still looking for our first 3 points of the year and it’s February tomorrow, surely it’s has to be one win in 6 in the league.
No doubt he will play our best midfield at right back, Newcastle have a lot of energy and aggression and slot has drained it all from us. I’m going for a 2-2 draw …

Newcastle’s season has been defined by sharp peaks and deep troughs, particularly on the road. Only two of their ten away league goals have come outside their two away wins, highlighting how reliant they are on perfect execution when travelling. Six scoreless away games underline the difficulty they face in sustaining pressure away from home.

Still, the Magpies possess players capable of unsettling Liverpool if given space. Bruno Guimarães has been Newcastle’s heartbeat, combining eight league goals with league-leading numbers for defensive line-breaking passes, and only one midfielder has produced more goal-leading line-breaking passes this season. His ability to progress play quickly will be vital against Liverpool’s aggressive press.

Out wide, Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes provide vertical running, while Yoane Wissa offers mobility through the middle. Newcastle’s issue has been turning territory into sustained attacks, especially late in games, where they’ve conceded 12 goals in the final 15 minutes, one of the highest totals in the division.

Eddie Howe is without Joelinton, Fabian Schär, Tino Livramento, and Jamaal Lascelles, weakening both midfield depth and defensive continuity. A familiar 4-3-3 is expected, with Guimarães anchoring and Gordon operating from the left.

Tonali will be anchoring, not Guimaraes.

Pretty offensive version that.

I thought we’d leave one of Salah or Gakpo out.

In Taggy’s here. Unreal atmosphere. Hope it transfers to Anfield!

Yes it’s an offence to include Gakpo in his current form. Couldn’t score in a brothel

Okay, Hugo has a point. I don’t want to go there now.

I am already suspicious that our Curtis is on the bench.

Gakpo and Mo need to show up and start putting in better performances.

& we need to be wary of their front 3 on the break as they’re going to look to hit them at every opportunity.

Szoboszlai in defence doesn’t seem like the most prudent choice against one of the most physical sides.
