All week I gaslight myself into thinking that there might be an inevitable down period that we just have to get through because of the squad turnover and that eventually it’ll start to formulate into “the plan”.
The I watch the game and remember how abject we are. The manager talks like an unlikeable prick, has systematically forced out all the local talent and can’t even be fucked enough to move to the area properly, doesn’t appear to “get” the club. He seems to completely misunderstand the strengths of the team and players, he doesn’t understand how to set-up a midfield, there appears to be NO coaching done on a week-to-week basis… it’s all just shite.
I’m not saying it’ll fix everything but I am saying that progress cannot begin until someone else is the manager.
If not Alonso then maybe Pocchetino. He will be free after the World Cup and he at least would buy into what this club stands for and play in an exciting way.
Whatever it is Slot thinks he is building towards - I don’t want it.

It’s why the arguments about being hamstrung by injury are so lacking. They’re may be some sympathy for those arguments in general, but not when you stack them up to what we’ve been served up for 9 months or more. We’re a side with no pattern, full of players who look lost, and increasingly don’t trust each other. A well managed side should be able to replace ten players and still look like a recognizable version of the real version even if not as good or with weak links (see us in 20/21 and Klopp’s kids). We look a mess and have done for a long time
