He’s got a protective boot on, it’s in the images on the website.
Though another player had one on last season and was back the game a week or so later.
What I assume happened was he wasn’t far off on Friday so Slot allowed the under 21s to pick whoever only for Tsimikas to have some reoccurrence and hence Davies ended up as the sub goalie as it’s the only option.
However from Slot’s comments yesterday it didn’t sound massively concerning and the fact Jota isn’t even in any of these is more concerning.
Chiesa is in the photos mind so maybe he was just missed.
The mood in the camp seems great. It’s really good to see. It needs talent, hard work, great coaching, and all the rest of it. But a crucial ingredient is the togetherness we seem to enjoy. Long may that continue.
We have come through some big tests with flying colors recently. I would love the performance level to continue, and what’s to say it won’t? But perhaps that is too much to reasonably expect?
Newcastle are not doing so well, but with their Saudi backing they will think of themselves more highly than they ought, and at home they will want to measure themselves against the high flying leaders. So I expect a tough game.
Three more points, however they come, and no injuries would be just the ticket to go into the derby.
I think we’ve all become obsessed with the need to rotate but I think if you asked most managers they would bite your hand off if you could guarantee their first choice back 4 playing 3 or 4 games in a short period of time.
For example I’d expect Arteta to play Timber, Saliba, Gabriel and Califiore in every game over the next few weeks unless one of them picks up an injury.
The only concern for us is Robbo might be a bit gassed for the derby if he plays 90 minutes on Wednesday so Joe might have to do half an hour at LB and Quansah doing 30 alongside VVD. I think Endo could put in a decent shift at RB if needed, especially against Everton.
Just hope we can get through the next 2 unscathed and then see where we are for Girona, a match we can afford to lose.
This also depends on the style of play for the full backs and ours do get through a lot of miles supporting their winger with overlapping and underlapping runs and are the obvious ones to rotate along with our 8’s Macca/Szob/Jones to save their legs.
But it will be interesting to see with Robbo and whether he does get a rest in one of the 2 upcoming games
Pretty standard fare. Love the way Arne goes about his press conferences: very straightforward and plain speaking, refusing to get drawn by silly questions and adds a sprinkling of humour.
Top bloke. I’ll see if I can catch him in Spoons now.
