Brobbey has a hold of Ibou’s shirt, again and dives looking for the penalty

Going on the last fifteen minutes we should be winning this game. The fact that we’re not fills me with dread.

He’s a step slow defensively. He jogs back on counters.

My hope is that he just needs some rest. And by rest - I mean a few weeks off.

Because the alternatives are far more concerning.

He might score a scruffy tap in and thats why

Good half. Lacked a bit of luck. More of the same and we should be good to go.

This is where Kerkez is missed; Robbo is failing to see Ekitike’s runs into space. no wonder ekitike is getting frustrated

HT 0-0:

Sunderland hanging on. We should be two or three nil ahead. A mix of bad luck and a bit of sloppiness in front of goal means we are stil at nil nil. Still a good first half though, at least in my book.

Now, can the lads reproduce this fist-half performance, while being a bit more clinical in front of goal? We’ll see, fingers crossed for three points tonight!

I think we’ve played really well. Wirtz is finding space, Gakpo having a good game, Konate defending Brobbry well (who would have a better shout for these fouls if he didn’t have handfuls of Konate’s shirt)

We should be be 1-0 by now. Our finishing is atrocious.

I Think he’s been pretty good tonight. Would like a better option for next year, mind.

Horrible pitch, lashing rain, and a very committed Sunderland side with plenty of heft about them. Against that backdrop we had the better of that and are unlucky to come in level at half time.

Taking the game before us in isolation, it’s a whole-hearted Premier League affair and we are battling hard away from home, against a team that hasn’t lost at home this season.

Hopefully we find the winner and continue to keep them out.

Obviously the wider context, where we are struggling, and falling behind rivals for a CL spot, has everyone a bit more on edge than what the game itself deserves. Because this game is a tough one, and we are doing ok to my mind.

My only concern, now Sunderland have stopped pressing us is that we really are still too open to counter attacks especially down the left and the space Macca leaves and isn’t fast enough to recover.

Well, that wasn’t the worst football I’ve seen this season.

Morning all. So far so OK?

Morning. 0-0 at half time. Wirtz hit the post. We have dominated possession. They have threatened a bit too, but we have had the better of it. It’s a whole-hearted Premier League battle.
