Premier League 2020/21 (Part 1)

That would be fucking awful.

Might be taxing, lol ! I kind of agree. I mean, how many members are we ? Maybe a bit too many for such a thread !

How many would participate though?

Heā€™s clever. Really short legs, too. Doesnā€™t seem ideally built for offense, but it all seems to work for him.

The Premier League has improved the last 2-3 seasons concerning mid-table and low-table teams. I mean, these days even Newcastle entertains you.

Unpopular hand grenade: Steve Bruce is doing a very good job and few would have taken more points with that team and those players. I know the myth is the Steve Bruce is supposed to be stupid and dim and that he is a bad manager and all of that. I am not entirely sure that myth is consistent with facts on the ground though.

Of course, Wolves is a better team, but Newcastle did well last season and has started this season in a relatively good manner as well. I very much remember the Alan Pardew years. Very different now. They are now competitive in most games.

Ps. Yes, I know some will say that itā€™s just down to Rafa, but Bruce has been there for a while now, the results are hardly worse and in my opinion one should be fair, even to people that is generally mocked by most fans.

Worst game of the weekend, easily.

Haha, I think it is quite lively! It is quite competitive in any case and both teams are going for it.

Iā€™ve said this before, but Adama does not seem to play a full 90 minutes for Wolves. Perhaps it is related to the amount of muscle mass that he is carrying?

Just catching up. Well done Southampton. Hasenhuttl is doing a great job there. They have also overcome a couple of setbacks too, which is the sign of a good coach.

Evertonā€¦ glad they lost. Iā€™m an old school red, and donā€™t live locally, so my tendency was to be gracious to Everton. I genuinely wanted them to do well - never as good as us, but to be a decent team and do well. I thought it was all good for the city, and I remember a friendlier time back in the 80s when we were the two best teams.

Howeverā€¦ nope. Not any more. My goodwill is in short supply since Pickford went into Vans Dijkā€™s knee like that, and Rich-snarlison (I just made that up!) tried to snap Thiagoā€™s leg. And now today, Digne, down the back of that fellas heel/ankle for what looked like ages.

On the one hand, accidents happen. On the other hand, too many in quick succession at the one club. Are they unlucky? Not for me. I struggle to believe a professional footballer doesnā€™t know where his feet are and what they are doingā€¦ poor Djimi Traore aside.

So Everton can get lost. I would now prefer the likes of Leicester to put up a good season and nab a top four spot.

Nuno seems to use him as the opposition tires. Not a bad strategy I think.

I agree with that, but the games so far have been very, very good though, this weekend.

But I can like a goalless midfield battle as long as it swings back and forth, and that is certainly the case here imo.

Controversial, yes. Rafa did well to give the club hope. Bottom line is they needed to further back him and really couldnā€™t in that moment with it up for sale. Bruce came into a seemingly impossible situation. Rafa had fucked off. So had several players. It looked grim indeed with that lot he inherited who werenā€™t performing at all. Yet he brought them straight out of danger and never looked in trouble the rest of the campaign. That was a job well done, and you can see in this match they remain a disciplined side. Have to agree with @wooltonred, itā€™s a dull match.

Indeed, all while the fan based thought him a moron and was widely against him. I think he deserves a lot of credit.

To be clear, compared to the gems we got served yesterday, I agree that it is dull. But I still enjoy it and I still think both teams show quality now and then, despite the lack of goals.

Itā€™s a match screaming for Andy Carroll.

Those tasty crosses have Nuno wondering why he didnā€™t have Traore on the pitch from the off.

Is he still about???

What a mad selection that was by Steve Bruce. Talk about square pegs in round holes.

Does the pitch need grazing
