Saw the head collision. Concussion protocols need to be improved, and perhaps even standardized around the league to remove doubt and an element of interpretation in trying to assess something potentially serious in a split second.

I suspect ManU will have a very different take on it this time around than with Suarez, but it would be absurd for Cavani to be sanctioned. Answering a Uruguayan fan in Spanish, and being judged in English makes no sense. There cannot even be a question of malice in this case.

It’s actually incredible that we are joint-top at this stage, with all the problems we’ve had to face. That really speaks for the character of the lads.
Hopefully we’ll get a break at some stage regarding new injuries, and some of the currently injured players will come back. Having Hendo back is already a big bonus.
Oh, and if we could get a break from those ludicrous VAR and ref calls against us, that would be great too.

It is often forgotten/ignored, but Suarez was sacrificed at the altar of our campaign to host the 2018 world cup. Our entire campaign was based on 2 arguments: 1) We’re England, and 2) Russia is racist. Point 2 required demonstrating our bonafides on taking racism seriously (except if it’s your captain) and we did a lot of performative stuff in that period, ironically at times displaying a colonial attitude to non-anglos that itself was actually pretty racist, particularly in this instance.

Yep, but The FA have history of virtue signally on quite a preposterous scale. Just uttering a word that seems a bit racist to an English ear can be enough to result in sanction, regardless of setting or the language in which it is being spoken.
Terry got off on the criminal charge of racially abusing A Ferdinand but not with the FA (albeit on a lower standard of proof). Just the fact he spoke the words was enough, regardless of the justification offered. For clarity, I think Terry deserved the punishment but the FAs mental gymnastics to get to that point were absurd. Absolutely desperate to be seen to be tough on racism.

Of course, Terry only got 4 games in what was clearly racial abuse, clearly done in malice. At least Cavani is a white guy, I guess.
I think Cavani will probably get done for 3-4 games, but as I noted above, my principal interest is going to be watching ManU contort themselves.

Is that faux enough? Guys do you remember when faux was a thing on TIA? Anyway, people will find a way to be appalled on other people’s behalf about this I am sure. We live in a much more tolerant world these days which is absolutely great but this getting outraged over everything is getting pretty weird.
