So Spurs won’t have played for a fortnight before our game.
Seriously not happy about that

The goal difference table is not as bad now as it was a few weeks ago, but it is still quite striking that a positive goal differential gets you a Europa League spot.
An international tournament in January is absolute madness in the current circumstances.
A two week gap starts to become problematic for sharpness in the squad.
Amidst all this talk, I’m wondering how many positive cases we might have within our own squad. It would be an impressive feat if we had none…
That might affect their rhythm though. We sometimes struggle without regular games.
Might do it might not, I’d be fine with it going to be honest… Especially if like Frank says it was done so the christmas programme isn’t decimated.
By the looks of it they’re just going to try and get through as many of these games as possible. There’s going to be a very non league look to the table at some point when certain teams have played about four more games than others.
Suppose our Spurs game could go regardless…
Bit difficult to go out to France now mind.
With the liklihood of forced postponements coming over the next 4-6 weeks, any game that can be played now absolutely has to be played. The more options there are to reschedule these missed games the better it can be done with respect to competitive balance, and so we need to get as many fixtures played as possible so we’re not adding to the backlog and making it harder to reschedule the games that had legit reasons to be postponed.
I think the other things is with the size of squads, its difficult to justify postponing a game. What I think we’ll see is not a game being postponed because x number of players are positive, but a game postponed because the entire squad has had to go into isolation in response to a positive test that the implications of have not been made clear yet.
Would be typical to see our games this month postponed to January while our AFCON crew are away on national duty
It’s why we need to stay in the League Cup in a way as there would be no space, the midweek break has two Brazilian games so we can’t play then eithier.
I expect they will fit them in, in the CL weeks when we’re not playing however it might mean 6pm kick offs like the continent.
United vs Brighton also postponed.
Is that the Saturday game?
Spurs game is postponed tonight.
This is the part that makes me most cynical. Spurs situation in particular seems peculiar.
How is it some squads have ZERO cases and others have 7-12? I just don’t believe it. Taken on face value it speaks to an absolute disregard of professionalism.
It could be down to the vaccination rates. We know that our club as a whole seem to be getting vaccinated as soon as is possible no matter whether it was the initial course of vaccination or the booster shots. We also seem to be fairly cautious about exposure. On the other hand, like you said, a lot of it is down to lack of professionalism at other clubs, e.g. the parties that some players kept having throughout lockdown.
Yes. Saturday early kick off.
Reading about the Burnley Watford postponement made me realise how irresponsible the league is being, especially since some games have been postponed after away fans travelled. This has the potential to cause extra spreading, what with all the unnecessary travel taking place.
You’ve answered your own question maybe.
